This year more than ever there are teams looking to make a name for themselves by jumping up the standings, these preseason favorites will have something to say about that.
Glassboro
With the roster that Glassboro has coming into this year it would not be surprising to see them become a powerhouse in the state of New Jersey. Sophomore Alexis Davis Alexis Davis 6'0" | SF Woodbury | 2023 State NJ has the look of a total superstar early in her career, as a freshman she averaged 21.2 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists, blocks and steals per game. To put it simply, Davis had a star making year and she could only be scratching the surface. Besides Davis Glassboro also touts senior Trinee Gadson who averaged 15 points and 7.6 rebounds as a junior. Between those two most teams will have difficulties guarding Glassboro, add in other great role players like sophomore Karma Payne and senior Hannah Sheffield and Glassboro might have the best weapons in the conference. This team should be at the top of the conference just based on the talent on paper, they will look to prove that prediction correct when the seasons starts.
Wildwood
Coming into the 2021 season Wildwood’s depth is going to be tested. The team only lost two seniors but many of the underclassmen didn’t play significant minutes last year. The saving grace of the team is going to be the fact that they have a three headed monster of stars in the starting lineup that not many teams are going to be able to handle. Seniors Jenna Hans (10.7 points per game) and Leah Benichou (8.4 points) and junior Imene Fathi (11 points) will be able to handle the heavy lifting as they proved they could last year. A 24-6 overall record last season shows just how far that star power can lead a team.
Woodstown
Woodstown has stiff competition at the top of the Diamond Division in the Tri-County Conference, but they look like a team ready to take over. With Glassboro also battling for that top spot it won’t be a cakewalk, but after a 21-7 season last year, they should feel confident heading into this season. With star senior Charlie Baldwin Charlie Baldwin 5'8" | CG Woodstown | 2020 State NJ now having graduated it is junior Riley Fulmer’s time to shine. In her sophomore year Fulmer averaged 10.8 points per game, now with her at the helm you can expect those numbers to take another jump. Besides Fulmer Woodstown also boasts a lot of talent to fill out the roster. Senior Daisy Baldwin and junior Chloe Cuzzupe can be relied on should Fulmer have an off night, this offense doesn’t live and die by one player.
