Manasquan: In arguably the game of the day, Manasquan defeated St. Rose, 55-52, in a battle of top-15 teams in the state. Four players finished in double figures for Manasquan, led by Mary Elizabeth Donnelly, who had 15 points and 12 rebounds in a double-double effort. Brooke Hollawell Brooke Hollawell 5'6" | PG Manasquan | 2022 State NJ added 14 points, Rylyn Orlando finished with 13 points and Dorothy Loffredo totaled 11 points and six rebounds. Manasquan opened the season with a huge victory in a battle of two of the Shore Conference’s elite teams.
Abby Antognoli, St. Rose: Despite coming up short and seeing her game-tying attempt rim out on the final possession, Antognoli was great for St. Rose out of Belmar. She finished with a game-high 26 points, knocking down five 3-pointers. Other St. Rose standouts included Maureen Stapleton (10 points, 8 rebounds) and Rosie Scognamiglio (11 points).
Bella Vito Bella Vito 5'8" | CG Montville | 2021 State NJ , Montville: Montville opened the year with a commanding 57-18 victory over Mountain Lakes on Wednesday, racing out to a 20-3 lead. Vito finished with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Dani Vito added 13 points and nine rebounds and Grace Kowalski Grace Kowalski 5'6" | SG Montville | 2023 State NJ finished with 13 points, six steals and five assists.
Ally Sweeney Ally Sweeney 5'8" | SG Sparta | 2023 State NJ , Sparta: Sweeney led Sparta with 18 points, six steals, six assists and five rebounds in the team’s 59-19 win over Morristown on Wednesday night.
Charlotte Milanesi, Veritas Christian: Milanesi paced Veritas Christian with 24 points, eight steals and six assists in the team’s 57-50 win over Atlantic Christian on Wednesday.
Taylor Hill, Passaic Valley: Hill led all scorers with 32 points in Passaic Valley’s 46-36 victory over West Milford.
Maddie Gore Maddie Gore 5'11" | PF Newton | 2021 State NJ , Newton: Gore, one of Newton’s top players, opened the season in a major way – finishing with 22 points, 18 rebounds, six steals and four blocks in the team’s 41-38 victory over Wallkill Valley.
Kamiyah Napier, Newark East Side: Napier totaled 20 points, five rebounds, five assists, four steals and a block in Newark East Side’s 56-31 victory over Barringer Wednesday.
Liyah Allen, Sinai Christian: Allen had 21 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in Sinai Christian’s 66-54 loss to Stuart Day.
Nia Melvin Nia Melvin 5'9" | PG Stuart Day | 2021 State NJ , Stuart Day: Melvin had 20 points, four rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks for Stuart Day in its 66-54 win over Sinai Christian.
Cortland McBarron, Rumson-Fair Haven: McBarron recorded a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds in Rumson-Fair Haven’s 61-50 win over Red Bank Regional. Chase Boyle had 14 rebounds for Rumson-Fair Haven.
