Open Runs are the new catch in the Pandemic Era, event directors have gotten slick and now know how to get kids to come out with the right safety precautions and play in an Open Run style workout. Here we go with the kids I saw at this workout.
2022, 5’5, PG, Rosary HS, Kaylee Byon Kaylee Byon 5'6" | PG Rosary Academy | 2022 State CA – Kaylee is nice, she plays with a type of a swag to her game, which is very entertaining to watch. She has a nice handle, she can get to the rim for a floater and she can shoot the three pointer. She plays good defense on her opponent, but her best attribute to the game is knocking down threes off the bounce and getting her team back in to tough games.
2022, 5’11, SF, JSerra HS, Hailey Johnson Hailey Johnson 6'0" | SF JSerrra HS | 2022 State CA – So I have now watched Johnson play this spring and summer and she is improving and we like the progress. She is developing her three point shot and making the transition to a wing/forward that will help her expand her game. She is capable of putting the ball on the floor from the freethrow line and can mix it up in the paint with some good moves down low. She is a decent defender and has the foot speed to stay in front of her opponent.
2022, 5’8, SF, Sage Hill HS, Isabel Gomez Isabel Gomez 5'8" | PG Sage Hill HS | 2022 State CA – Isabel is one of the leaders on this team and she showed it the few times we watched this team this season. They lost a few to Crean Lutheran, but they made the most of it. She has good size for a guard/forward and showed us some skill set as well as being a decent defender. She is gonna be one to watch this season if it happens, but we are excited to watch the growth of her game whenever she steps back onto the court.
2023, 5’4, PG, Christian HS, KoKo Akridge – Quick and dynamic point guard in the open floor, can get to the rim with ease with her speed and agility, but is a terror in the open floor trying to stop her from getting paint touches. She is confident, she has a high IQ for the game and will be an asset to the program she chooses to play for this spring and summer without high school playing. She can shoot the midrange, she can shoot the three ball, but her passes and the ability to rebound and push the break is a game changer for her.
