SCISA: First Impressions All-Hustle Team
In this article:
Prep Girls Hoops took in the first day action from Sumter on Friday for the SCISA State Tourney. Prep Girls Hoops is going to take a look at some First Impressions All-Hustle Team right here. Who were some players that just left it all out on the floor on the opening day of action here. These players made a lasting impression on me here yesterday in Sumter.
Maddie Heathcott Maddie Heathcott 5'9" | PF John Paul II | 2022 State SC (2022) – John Paul II (Ridgeland) (pictured on front)
Heathcott made quite a first impression on me yesterday with her play. Heathcott and the Golden Warriors fell a bit short in the loss to Lee Academy. Heathcott wasn’t afraid to get on the floor for a loose ball or go into the paint and rebound. Heathcott brought a blue collar mentality to the floor. Heathcott brought the ball up the floor at times and tried to do everything for the Golden Warriors if it came to rebounding or driving it to the cup.
Allie Briley Allie Briley 5'8" | PF Pee Dee Academy | 2022 SC (2022) – Pee Dee Academy (Mullins)
Briley plays down in the paint for the Lady Eagles and does it quite well. Briley isn’t flashy with her play at all. Briley was able to land a few charges this evening in a tough loss to Beaufort Academy. Briley rebounded the ball out of her area and did all the little things for the Lady Eagles with her hustle.
Payton Breen Payton Breen 5'7" | PF Laurens Academy | 2022 State SC (2022) – Laurens Academy
Breen and her teammates lost a tough game to Lowcountry Prep in the opening round. Breen finished the game with 18 points. Breen was active on the both ends of the floor and was always communicating with her teammates on the floor. Breen landed on the floor several times for loose balls and just complete all out hustle.
Maura Weathers (2021) – Dorchester Academy
Weathers finished with 8 points in the win for the Lady Raiders. Weathers the school Valedictorian plays all 3 sports for the Lady Raiders. Weathers plays down in the post and NEVER takes a play. Weathers excels on the volleyball court and softball field for Dorchester Academy. Weathers constantly yelling out “Incoming” on the defensive end of the floor. Weathers always had her feet moving on both ends of the floor and really did a great job of sealing and boxing out. According to the Dorchester Academy Staff Weathers will attend University of South Carolina next year on a Academic Scholarship.
