Hudson Catholic, ranked No. 9 in the state, defeated Bayonne, 67-51, No. 8 University got past West Orange, 41-27, and Washington Township edged Cherry Hill West in a double-overtime thriller, 54-51. Let’s take a look at some of the standouts from the marquee Saturday games.
Sidney Williams, University: Williams, a senior, scored 12 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and had two blocks in University’s 41-27 victory over West Orange.
Tara Johnson Tara Johnson 5'9" | SG University | 2021 State NJ , University: Johnson was also a key on the glass with 12 rebounds in the victory. The senior now has two double-digit rebounding performances. She had a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds against Montclair Immaculate on Jan. 28.
Zanai Jones Zanai Jones 5'5" | PG Hudson Catholic | 2021 State NJ , Hudson Catholic: Jones put in 21 points to go with six rebounds and three assists as Hudson Catholic put in 40 second-half points and defeated Bayonne to improve to 3-1.
Kayla Beckford, Hudson Catholic: Beckford had 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out six assists in an all-around performance for Hudson Catholic. Adiana Pacheco rounded out the notables for Hudson Catholic with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Eniya Scott Eniya Scott 5'6" | PG Bayonne | 2022 State NJ , Bayonne: Scott, Bayonne’s leader, had a team-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Bayonne. She made nine free throws in the loss.
Jolyssa Moody, Bayonne: Moody hit three triples and put in 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Bayonne on Saturday.
Jessica Lee, Washington Township: In one of the most exciting matchups of the day, Lee finished with a team-high 20 points as Washington Township held off Cherry Hill West. Marissa Lucca added 13 points for Washington Township.
Alison Ahern, Cherry Hill West: Despite coming up short, Ahern netted a game-high 27 points for Cherry Hill West in its 54-51 loss. It was the fourth double-digit scoring performance for the senior.
