Below is a list of shooting guards who have earned a spot in the Class of 2021 rankings.
Taylor Roughen Taylor Roughen 5'7" | SG Lake Mills | 2021 State WI
Lake Mills | 5’7
Roughen has great shot preparation. She keeps her hands ready and aligns herself the same every time. Her off ball movement allows her to get the space she needs for the shot. She runs off picks and shuffles along the perimeter, always ready for the ball. Roughen helped lead her team to a WIAA State Title during her senior season at Lake Mills. She averaged 13 points per game. She made 56 three point baskets during her final season. In a game against Lakeside Lutheran, Roughen scored four 3-pointers. In another game against a tough Watertown Luther Prep squad, Roughen scored five 3-pointers. She scored five 3-pointers in a game on three different occasions this year.
Emily McCurdy Emily McCurdy 5'9" | SG St. Croix Falls | 2021 State WI
St Croix Falls | 5’9
During her senior season, McCurdy averaged 12 points and 4 steals per game. She scored a total of 1,189 points in her four years at St. Croix Falls. In a win over Ladysmith this season, McCurdy went 5-9 from the 3-point line. She is an electric secondary guard with the potential to take over the game if she gets hot. She’s a three level scorer with tremendous confidence in her shot- she’s not afraid of taking the big shot, and she wants to help her team with her ability to knock it down when left open. She has an impressive ability to shoot off the dribble as well; her pace is solid from the dribble into her launch point.
Kaylee Marty Kaylee Marty 5'5" | SG Black Haw | 2021 State WI
Black Hawk | 5’5
Marty was another player that helped lead her team to a State Tournament appearance. She averaged 15 points per game as a senior and scored 330 points during her senior season. In her final game against a tough Three Lakes team, Marty scored three clutch perimeter shots to help her team down the stretch. She made 30 three points baskets during her senior season. She is a lethal catch-and-shoot threat that only needs a few inches of space to her shot off. Her release is mechanically sound and very quick. Her overall balance as a player is seen the most through her jump shot. The evelevation she creates off the catch also aids her in being able to release the ball quickly
Lindsay Kirby Lindsay Kirby 5'9" | SG St. Thomas More | 2021 State WI
St. Thomas More | 5’9
Kirby led her team in so many ways on the floor and utilizes her explosive dribble moves more than ever during her senior season. She was a leader for her team and was able to put up huge numbers each time she stepped onto the floor. Though she became more impactful as a 2-point scorer- Kirby’s perimeter shot should not go on recognized. She’s been a sniper from behind the arc for all four years playing on St. Thomas More. She averaged 18 points per game this season while making 38 three point baskets. She made 80 three pointers during her career.
Sydney Lurvey Sydney Lurvey 5'7" | SG Three Lakes | 2021 State WI
Three Lakes | 5’7
Lurvey plays her role extremely well on this Three Lakes team. She averaged 15 points per game during her senior season and made 39 three point baskets. An incredible shooter with range and consistency, Lurvey scored 225 perimeter baskets during her four years at Three Lake. She scored 1,258 total points as well. She creates for herself off the dribble but also does a fantastic job finding her place within the offense. She’s an incredible shooter off the catch. She moves off the ball and gets herselves open without the ball.
Jaelyn Acker Jaelyn Acker 5'7" | CG Germantown | 2021 State WI
Germantown | 5’7
The California Baptist commit was lethal from behind the arc when she led her team to a State Title. She averaged 11.5 points per game during her four years at Germantown- 13.6 during her senior season. She scored 1,197 career points including 407 during her final lap with Germantown. She made 77 three point baskets this season and 214 total. Acker made seven 3-point baskets on two separate occasions this season. During the State Tournament, Acker scored 28 points in the semi-final along with 7 perimeter baskets. The following game- the state title game, Acker made five 3-pointers. Acker is primarily a lead guard with the ability to knock down the three point basket.
