Top Postseason Performances Pt. 1

Top Postseason Performances February and March are the two craziest months of the GHSA season. With the season now wrapped up, here’s a look at some of the top performances of the GHSA State Playoffs that I witnessed, sans the State Championships. 2021 5-4 PG Ema Turner – Coahulla Creek – LaGrange In the final home game of her career, Ema Turner had possibly the best game of her career, exploding for 28 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Turner was locked in from deep, burying 4 threes to carry the Colts. Her quickness with the ball helped her get into the paint where she showed the ability to finish vs. length. Soon after Turner’s heroics, she pledged to play at LaGrange in college. 2021 6-0 C Katelyn Richards Katelyn Richards 6'0" | C Coahulla Creek | 2021 State GA – Coahulla Creek – Shorter Battling with foul trouble, was effective when she was on the floor vs. White County. Her presence clogged the lane and limited driving opportunities. She scored with her back to the basket in the post and was an impactful rebounder. Richards collected 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. 2021 5-8 PG Dasha Cannon Dasha Cannon 5'7" | CG White County | 2021 State GA – White County – North Georgia When was on the bench in foul trouble, North Georgia-signee took over. The strong guard got into the lane at will and scored without an issue. She poured in 12 of her team-high 20 points in the second quarter and finished her career with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals. Cannon is a smart passer and reliable ball handler. She makes others around her better. 2021 5-10 W Maddie Futch Maddie Futch 5'9" | SF White County | 2021 State GA – White County – Emmanuel ’s toughness will translate well to the next level. She does the bulk of her damage in the paint as a sturdy rebounder with a high motor. She posted 14 points, 16 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block. Futch embraces contact down low and can score in traffic. 2021 5-11 F Jakera Ellerbee Jakera Ellerbee 5'11" | PF Upson-Lee | 2021 State GA – Upson-Lee The athleticism of will play at the next level. She’s an explosive player that can attack rebounds and score in the paint. Ellerbee can start her own fast break and go coast-to-coast in a blink. She has good footwork and uses a nice eurostep to avoid defenders. Once Upson-Lee sped up the game, Ellerbee started to flourish. In the Knights offense, Ellerbee comes off curls and gets downhill immediately. She finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block in an Elite Eight win over Stephens County.
