The frontline prospects in the 2022 class aren’t overly tall, but there are several hard-working, skillful kids on the list below. There is also some depth, as our Top-200 is home to 23 centers. There are some nice posts who can play inside-out, even a few who can knock down the 3-pointer, plus there are several high-motor, tough-nosed kids who battle, and there are even a few athletes who can run and jump. Below is a look at those 23 prospects, as well as some added information and analysis on a handful of girls who have stood out since our last rankings update in December.
Newcomer
Our Spring rankings update isn’t a big time for new additions to the current Junior class, but while we didn’t expand from 200 prospects, there was one center added due to an opening on the list. Halie Gilbert Halie Gilbert 6'1" | C Terre Haute North Vigo | 2022 State IN of Terre Haute North Vigo High School has tremendously improved since last year and is deserving of being included in the Top-200. She has a nice frame with some strength and length, she plays with a great motor, she runs the floor hard, and she has solid hands and finishes inside, plus she can shoot it a little facing the basket to the 3-point line.
Stock-Risers
Maddie Hudspeth Maddie Hudspeth 6'1" | C Oregon-Davis | 2022 State IN , Oregon-Davis H.S. – Maddie has come a long way over the last two years. She has gotten taller, stronger, and much more efficient as a basketball player. She plays with a nice motor, she is willing to be physical around the block, but she can also play at 15-feet facing the basket. I think once more coaches get eyes on her over this Spring and Summer, she will accumulate great small college interest.
Haley Polston Haley Polston 6'2" | C Martinsville | 2022 State IN , Martinsville H.S. – The amount of growth Haley has shown in her game from last year to this year has been impressive. This Spring, she looks so much more confident and assertive, especially offensively. She still needs to play a little lower and gain strength, but she at least has the mentality to seek physicality. Her hands look better and she seems to be finishing better inside as well.
Abby Sanner Abby Sanner 6'2" | C Warsaw | 2022 State IN , Warsaw Community H.S. – Warsaw has a really nice 2022 class, but Abby could draw as much interest as any of them because of her size, skill, and ability. She has some strength, length, and she’s a solid all-around athlete. She was always more of a back-to-the-basket post, but now she’s more active at 15-feet and is starting to knock down that midrange jumper. Defensively, she blocks/alters a lot of shots.
Keep an eye on…
Emily Livingston Emily Livingston 6'2" | C Union City | 2022 State IN , Union City H.S. – When you watch Union City play, it’s easy to get caught up watching their two 2022 wings, but Emily is just as impactful, and she’s finally on a grassroots team this Spring/Summer. I will be curious to see how she adapts to the size and speed of the game. She has a solid frame with good strength, she has some length as well, but now she’ll need to learn how to play lower/stronger.
Madeline Robertson Madeline Robertson 6'2" | C Mitchell | 2022 State IN , Mitchell H.S. – I am really curious to see what kind of interest Madeline drums up this Spring. When I first saw her in the Fall, she was incredibly intriguing, she seeks contact and establishes position early, offensively and defensively, and she has great length. She can score it on the block and finish through contact, but she can also hit an open 3-pointer. Defensively, she rebounds well and blocks shots.
Meredith Weiss Meredith Weiss 6'0" | PF Vincennes Rivet | 2022 State IN , Vincennes Rivet H.S. – When I saw Meredith after her Freshman season, she was a hard-working, skillful, fairly physical front-liner. But she missed last Summer/Fall with a knee injury, so this is her first opportunity to take the floor in a grassroots environment in two years. She looks stronger and even more physical, but she still maintains a nice skillset and a great motor. She is very under-the-radar.
