South Dakota Class B State Tournament Top Performers (Part 1) South Dakota Class B State Tournament Top Performers (Part 1) – White River – (5’10/PG/2021) – University of South Dakota (Track) –
The leader of the state champion White River Tigers, Caelyn can score the ball at will. She does most of her damage by getting to the hoop off the dribble, using her athleticism to use a combination of euros and creative moves to create separation. She tore up the state tournament and her overall stats back it up. She led the tournament in scoring at 24.67 ppg. on 28-56 (50%) from the field. She only took 10 threes making 3 of them for 30%. Led the tournament in steals with 8 total. Tied for 1st in blocks with 6 total. And finished 1st in assists with 15 for an average of 5.0 per game. She was an easy choice for Tournament MVP.
**Caelyn finished her career as No. 8 on the all-time South Dakota high school girls basketball career scoring list with 2,536 points. This was with suffering an ACL injury in her Junior season.**
Maleighya Estes Maleighya Estes 5'8" | CG White River | 2022 State SD – White River – (5’8/CG/2022) – Tied for 4th in scoring at 16.0 ppg. in the tournament. Maleighya put together an impressive tournament, and especially an impressive championship game going 8-14 from the field for 19 points. She was 22-50 from the field for 44%. Maleighya relies on going off the dribble in a pull-up mid-ranger quite often. That’s where she does most of her scoring. She was recently added to the database and PGH settled her in at #18 for the class of 2022. A 2nd team all stater, she averaged 20.6 ppg. and was a dynamic playmaker for White River.
Alayna Benike Alayna Benike 5'11" | SF Castlewood | 2021 State SD – Castlewood – (5’11/Wing/2021) – University of Nebraska-Kearney (D2) – Alyana opened the tournament with a 24 point game versus Waverly-South Shore. She hit 8 threes throughout the tourney, helping Castlewood reach the title game, finishing in 2nd place. The 1st team All-Stater, on the regular season she averaged a double-double, scoring 19.4 ppg. (46% 3pt) and hauled down 10.8 rpg.
Rachel Fiedler Rachel Fiedler 5'10" | SG Herreid/Selby | 2021 State SD – Herreid/Shelby – (5’10/SG/2021) – Dakota Wesleyan University (Volleyball) – Rachel had an impressive tournament scoring the ball. She averaged 22.0 points per game. She was 13-30 from three for 43.3%. She was chosen to the class B 2nd team All-State team and averaged 18.0 ppg. and shot 39% from three for the regular season.
Emily Kranz Emily Kranz 6'3" | C Waverly-South Shore | 2021 State SD – Waverly-South Shore – (6’3/C/2021) – The towering 6’3 center had a standout State tournament. She averaged a double-double throughout the tournament, averaging 19.67 ppg. with 11.0 rpg. Her most impressive state may be her shooting percentage at 64.9 percent. That’s with shooting 30% in the final game versus Herreid/Shelby. Against Castlewood she was 9-11 from the field and versus Hanson she was 11-13 for 26 points. Those are highly impressive efficiency numbers. She was picked for the 1st Team All-State, averaging 19.2 ppg and 11 boards per contest. She also swatted 2.8 shot attempt per game.
