PGH continues its 2021 season recap series in North Jersey to the Skyland Conference to talk about the best players in the Mountain division.
Erin McNulty Erin McNulty 5'10" | SF Mount St. Mary | 2021 State NJ – G, Mount St. Mary
McNulty had a fantastic senior season for Mount St. Mary, one of three teams in the Mountain division to finish with three losses or fewer, going 13-2 overall. She averaged 13.6 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.2 APG, 4.3 SPG and 1.7 made threes a game this season for Mount St. Mary, showing massive improvements on the defensive and passing areas of her game. She quickly became much more of a well-rounded guard, showing that she can score with ease from the interior and the perimeter, but her greatest asset definitely was her defense. Anyone who averages over four steals a game is someone who is a stout defender and shut down opponents. She did just that and finished her high school career with some authority.
Rebecca Phillips – G/F, South Hunterdon
Phillips, another senior, was a key piece on a 10-3 South Hunterdon squad that dominated competition on the whole this season. She averaged 13.1 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 2.1 APG & SPG and 1.2 made threes a game, nearly averaging a double-double in the process in 2021. Phillips’ best performance was a 19-point, 15-rebound double-double in a 47-41 win over Delaware Valley on March 5, the last of three double-doubles she recorded this season. She showed growth on both sides of the ball this season, averaging a career-high in points per game and rebounds per game. It was a fantastic senior send-off for Phillips for sure.
Nora Dornich – F, Belvidere
Dornich has set herself up nicely to be the newest member of Belvidere’s 1000 point club next season after a breakout 2021 season where she averaged 18.1 PPG, one of the top scorers in the conference, along with 1.7 made threes a game. She exceeded expectations in a big way, quickly turning into a superstar in the Skyland and has been pushing Belvidere in the right direction moving forward. The forward is one of the most effortless scorers in the conference and moves so easily across the floor. She’s a fantastic interior presence and is a nightmare matchup on both sides of the ball for opponents. Watch out for her in a big way come the 2021-22 season.
Arianna McCleod – G, Bound Brook
McCleod became the newest member of the 1000 point club within the Bound Brook girls basketball program, and she was as unstoppable as ever in 2021. She averaged 18.2 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 2.1 made threes a game, 3.1 APG and 4.4 SPG for Bound Brook this season. She was as good as it gets and has been this good the entirety of her high school career, dominant from start to finish. Bound Brook has some fantastic players coming through the program that will help to replace McCleod, like freshman Brenae Jones, who averaged 9.1 PPG & RPG this season, but McCleod is going to be a big loss for this program after the impact she’s had the past four seasons.
Angelina Sanchez – G/F, Manville
Sanchez saved the best for last at Manville, averaging a double-double in her final high school season and posting double-figure scoring and rebounding averages for the first time in her high school career. She averaged 11.4 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 2.3 APG, 0.7 BPG, 4.5 SPG and 1.1 made threes a game in 2021, her best numbers across the board aside from assists. She was a fantastic player on a strong Manville team and her balance on the score sheet was a major plus for this program. Her presence on the court will be missed on this Manville team come next season.
