Alaina Diaz Alaina Diaz 5'7" | CG Hudsonville | 2022 State MI (CG, Hudsonville)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #13
Michigan’s class of 2022 is one of the better in the country in my opinion, so it’s very tough to move up a list like that. But Diaz did it. All you had to do was watch the high school state playoffs this season and you know why. College coaches want winners, and that’s exactly what Diaz is. As a matter of fact, she just got done breaking records and collecting championships in high school track. In due time, you’ll hear me mention her as a Miss Basketball candidate.
Brooke Daniels Brooke Daniels PG Macomb L'Anse Creuse | 2022 State MI (PG, L’Anse Creuse North)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #17
Daniels is that playmaking lead guard that college coaches are looking for. She’s the type of player that when you put the ball in her hands and tell her to go, you know she’s going to make something good happen. Daniels is a player with a high basketball IQ that consistently makes good decisions with the ball. She’s a tremendous ball handler that isn’t fazed by pressure D.
Asia Cochran Asia Cochran 5'8" | SG Westfield Prep | 2022 State MI (SG, Westfield Prep)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #38
Cochran sent a message on the PGH Circuit with Hype Athletics this spring. She’s a relentless defender that’s at her best attacking and trapping the offense. Cochran makes her opponent play the entire length of the floor. She is a plus player offensively as well, showing off a solid jumper and the ability to finish strong in traffic.
Lauren Gunn Lauren Gunn PG Saginaw Heritage | 2022 State MI (PG, Saginaw Heritage)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #60
Honestly, I don’t even know how much Gunn moved in the rankings, but it doesn’t matter because either way, her stock has risen this spring. She has been simply terrific with the Michigan Cagers 2022. She has lead the offense and put her teammates in position to see success. Gunn has also showed a scoring hand with the ability to get buckets as needed.
Alexandra Kolnitys Alexandra Kolnitys PG Midland Dow | 2022 State MI (PG, Midland Dow)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #73
Kolnitys is similar to Gunn in that I don’t really care how she moved in the rankings, because we all know how her stock has risen. I was thoroughly impressed with what I saw since the last rankings update. Kolnitys has all the tools to be a big time point guard and an absolute steal for a college program.
Ashley Bower Ashley Bower SG Portland | 2022 State MI (SG, Portland)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #81
Bower was probably the biggest mover in the rankings. Even more impressive is the fact that she has a very legitimate argument that she should have moved even further up the list. Bower was one of the most impressive players in the Michigan high school state playoffs. She led her team offensively and there wasn’t a player in her Division that proved they could slow her down.
Mia Riley Mia Riley PG Fowler | 2022 State MI (PG, Fowler)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #84
Riley had a tremendous high school season and just keeps improving her all around game. It seems to me that she has developed into an excellent leader both on and off the court. She works hard and sets the tone for the Fowler squad. Riley is an excellent passer and can one of the better scoring lead guards.
