Blue Star 16Us win a thriller
In one of the most exciting games of the day, Blue Star St. Louis 16Us outlasted Kentucky Premier EYBL 73-70 in the Aqua Bracket Platinum Division quarterfinals. It was an entertaining game that went down the final buzzer. Blue Star had several different players step up with big games, but the heroine at the end was 2024 point guard Allie Turner Allie Turner 5'8" | CG John Burroughs | 2024 State MO (John Burroughs) who drained a 30-footer as time expired. Turner dribbled upcourt and executed a wrap around dribble to give her the space to let fly with the game winner that caught nothing but net. She finished the game with 12 points.
Blue Star St. Louis was led by 6’2″ 2023 Natalie Potts Natalie Potts 6'2" | PF Incarnate Word | 2023 State MO (Incarnate Word), who scored 21 points. Potts normally dominates the inside, but she knocked down four 3-pointers in this game. 2023 guard Violet McNece Violet McNece 5'11" | SG Marquette | 2023 State MO (Incarnate Word) added 12 points, which included a big three-point play down the stretch to give her team the lead. 2024 guard Olivia Hahn Olivia Hahn 5'9" | CG Incarnate Word Academy | 2023 State MO (Incarnate Word) added 10 points, mostly coming from the free throw line as she attacked the basket hard and made most of her free throws.
Blue Star St. Louis will face Indiana Elite Prime in the semifinals today at 11:40 a.m. (CST). It has already been a big week for Blue Star as they have already defeated two Nike EYBL teams in Kentucky Premier and Kia Nurse 16U.
Lady BBE 2022 works overtime
The Lady Brad Beal Elite 2022s advanced to the semifinals of the Cyan Bracket Platinum Division with a thrilling 48-46 overtime victory over the Atlanta Celtics. The clutch performer for Lady BBE in this game was 5’8″ 2022 Alecia Doyle (Carterville, IL), who picked up a loose ball in the lane and hit a short jumper as time expired to give her team the victory.
Even before her last second heroics, Doyle was having a tremendous ball game. She scored both of Lady BBE’s buckets in the overtime period, including a twisting drive through the lane to give her team a 46-44 lead. She is an explosive athlete who can hit the mid-range jumper with excellent elevation. She is also a very good rebounder and defensive player. Another player who stood out was 5’10″ 2022 guard Jaiden Bryant Jaiden Bryant 5'10" | SF Incarnate Word Academy | 2022 State MO (Incarnate Word), a solid all-around player who makes shots, plays stout defense and is always in the right place at the right time. She is a Missouri State commit.
Lady BBE will face East Coast United Family in the semifinals this morning at 7:15 a.m. (CST)
15U teams split in bracket play
A pair of 15U squads were also in the Platinum Division of their respective brackets and came away with the split on the day. Kingdom (MO) defeated Long Island Lightning 78-63 in the quarterfinals of the Denim Bracket. Kingdom has been led all week by 6’1″ 2024 forward Breona Hurd Breona Hurd 6'2" | PF Waynesville | 2024 State MO of Waynesville, who dominates the inside and perimeter at both ends. 5’10″ 2024 Grace Billington Grace Billington 5'10" | SG Moberly | 2024 State MO (Moberly) is a talented wing guard who can handle the ball and knock down 3-pointers. Kingdom (MO) will take on East Coast United Family in the semifinals today at 11:40 a.m. (CST)
Lady BBE 2024 was defeated by a hot-shooting Wisconsin Impact team 59-41 in the quarterfinals of the Aqua Bracket. They will now play Just Play Elite on the consolation side of the bracket today at 11:40 a.m. (CST). Lady BBE got solid performances from 6’0″ 2024 Hannah Wallace Hannah Wallace 6'0" | SF Cardinal Ritter | 2024 State MO (Cardinal Ritter) and 6’1″ 2024 Amiah Hargrove (Christopher, IL), who had a lot of success early in the game.
Young SEMO Sizzle 2026s advance to finals
The SEMO Sizzle 2026 squad will be playing in the championship game of the Blue Platinum North Division today at 12:50 p.m. The Sizzle defeated FOCUS Select 44-42 in a thriller to advance to today’s finals. Guard Katie Rubel had a big all-around game with 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists and six blocks to lead her team to the victory. (Stats provided by Nick McNeal).
