Lets take a look at some 2022-2023 Top Performers from the Palmetto State in this article. Prep Girls Hoops is your source for basketball coverage in the Palmetto State year round. Prep Girls Hoops is ALWAYS on the lookout for some new talent and today we were able to see a few new players for the future.
Shar’dasia Zeigler Shar’dasia Zeigler 5'5" | CG Orangeburg-Wilkinson | 2022 State SC (2022) – Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS – Palmetto 76ers Select Waiters (pictured on front)
Zeigler a point guard constantly brings a competitive edge and a willingness to win. Zeigler is a very pesky defender and really looks to get under the skin of her opponent with her play. Shardasia really looks to attack the basket and get out in transition to score the ball. Zeigler has already given a early pledge to stay home and play at South Carolina State University.
Alani Liriano Alani Liriano 5'6" | CG Irmo | 2022 State SC (2022) – Irmo HS – SC Hornets
Liriano and Wheeler tried to make things go today for the SC Hornets. Liriano played around the ball all game long and always seemed to be shot ready to receive the ball. Alani was able to connect on some short mid-range jumpers today.
Kennedi McLean Kennedi McLean 6'1" | C Carolina Forest | 2022 State SC (2022) – Carolina Forest HS – Carolina Flames
McLean would show some good flashes from time to time down on the low block. McLean can play with her back to the basket and post up. Kennedi has no problems carving out space down low.
Shia Kinard Shia Kinard 5'6" | CG Wade Hampton (Hampton) | 2022 State SC (2022) – Wade Hampton HS – Palmetto 76ers Select Waiters
Shia has scoring the ball on her mind whenever she hits the floor. Kinard has been on the varsity since we first saw as 8th grade for the Red Devils. Kinard plays in the Low Country and does a really good job hitting the baseline jumper. Shia will look to leak out for cheapies in transition at times.
Tashiana Farmer Tashiana Farmer 6'0" | PF Crestwood | 2023 State SC (2023) – Crestwood HS (Dalzell) – Palmetto 76ers Select Waiters
This was the first time seeing Farmer in over a year it seemed. The Lady Knights played a very limited schedule this past season during Covid-19. Farmer is a RAW athletic talent still learning the game. Tashiana runs the floor very well but still needs to develop a skill set down the road.
Leah Page Leah Page 5'9" | CG Gaffney | 2023 State SC (2023) – Gaffney HS – Palmetto 76ers Select Waiters
Page is a new name from the Upstate. Page a post player plays aggressive on both ends of the floor. Page won’t overwhelm you with athleticism is probably better suited in a nice half court set style of play. Page was able to post up and play with her back to the basket.
Lakyn Wheeler (2023) – Ridge View HS – SC Hornets
Wheeler was a new face for this Prep Girls Hoops member today. Wheeler really came out firing on today scoring the ball at all 3 levels on the floor. Lakyn seemed to be a confident shooter with her play and finished the day with 18 points according to our scoring.
