There’s much more SJ flair in this update as we’ve made sure to balance the rankings with more attention being put across the entire state than ever before.
Here are several players you should be keeping an eye on as they’ll surely be making moves on the rankings list this season.
We start out with guard Kayleigh Armstrong Kayleigh Armstrong 5'7" | PG Haddon Township | 2022 State NJ of Haddon Township, a multi-sport athlete who is arguably the best player on one of the top teams in the Colonial Conference.
Armstrong cemented her status as a big-time player last season for the Hawks, receiving First-Team All-Conference honors from nj.com in the Colonial.
What is going to be the most important thing for the continued growth of Armstrong’s game is consistency on the floor and increased competitive drive, which we’ve seen as the summer has progressed.
Time is going to be of the essence and a full season in her senior year is going to be extremely helpful.
From Armstrong, we go to forward Marquae Richardson-Muse of Haddon Heights, another First-Team All-Colonial Conference selection by nj.com and an exciting talent to watch.
Richardson-Muse is one of the best interior threats in the region and for good reason as her physical games bodes well to great results in the paint. She’s one of the players to watch in the Colonial coming into this season as she added another level to her game in the spring.
That, coupled with a successful summer and continued work in the gym and growth is setting up for what is expected to be a monster senior season for her. Haddon Heights is one of the premier programs in this conference, and as Richardson-Muse goes, they go.
The last player we’ll be discussing in this article is forward Angelina Barrera Angelina Barrera 6'0" | PF Gloucester Catholic | 2022 State NJ of Gloucester Catholic, a top-10 forward in the state and an expected double-double machine come the fall.
Barrera welcomes contact in the lane well as she’s one of the most consistent free throw shooters in the conference thanks to her aggressive play style. Along with her offense, her defense is impressive to watch, a shut-down interior presence.
She moves really well for a forward, showing the ability of a stretch five to make herself bigger on the floor. She drives well into the lane and finishes strong, and her midrange shooting is a great complement to her overall game.
We’ll be posting more rankings update stories as the week progresses, so continue to look out for more content from Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey.
