2022 Updated Rankings-Stock Risers pt 1
I didn’t change the top 4 spots, Ashlon Jackson Ashlon Jackson 5'10" | SG Hardin Jefferson | 2022 State #22 Nation TX (Duke) Sa’Myah Smith Sa’Myah Smith 6'4" | PF DeSoto | 2022 State #14 Nation TX , Carleigh Wenzel Carleigh Wenzel 5'11" | SG O'Connor | 2022 State #51 Nation TX (West Virginia), and Amina Muhammad Amina Muhammad 6'3" | PF DeSoto | 2022 State TX all stayed in the same spots yet after seeing countless players, many numerous times, I adjusted some however keep in mind, there will be another update coming in a few weeks
#5 Tionna Herron Tionna Herron 6'3" | PF DeSoto | 2022 State TX
(Up from #10)
Herron has been climbing up the charts on every upgrade and watching her continue to add to her variety of skills to become more than just a defensive stopper that rebounded on both ends and blocked an abundance of shots. Yeah, she still does those things, even better but her scoring, around the basket, facing the basket, and off the dribble is why she’s moving up, let me also add she’s finishing with contact, and watching her just intimidate defenders had me beaming
#6 Christeen Iwuala Christeen Iwuala 6'1" | C Reagan | 2022 State TX
( Up from #12)
Iwuala had me drop “beastlike” a few times during her career yet let me go ahead and drop the hashtag #BEAST because she was dominant, on both ends of the court, which for her an upgrade and the way she uses her body and strength to overpower defenders in the paint is next level ready, trust me but her ability to step out and drop 10 footers was nice and speaking of stepping out, as well as playing defense in the paint, she did a very good job outside the paint as well
#8 Bailey Maupin Bailey Maupin 5'10" | SG Gruver | 2022 State TX
(Up from #17)
Maupin impressed me with another team the first time I saw her, yeah I had heard about her but I still need to see for myself yet watching her with her new team just did it for me because she showed me a totally different version, might have been the system but her pull-up jumper from anywhere on the floor was smooth and accurate because she sets the defender up nicely to create her shot and even if you know what’s coming, she has you at her mercy because she’s strong, can score after the lick and still has some upside
#9 Michayla Gatewood Michayla Gatewood 5'8" | PG DeSoto | 2022 State TX
(Up From #15)
Gatewood has been one of those players I have enjoyed for a very long time because the game starts at the 1, yeah it really starts at the tip but let me give you all a tip, “you can’t teach certain things” and her poise under pressure definitely caught my eye when she was in elementary school. I love how she’s battled back from injuries to stay at an elite level, her BB-IQ is second to none, she makes those around her better because she understands how to run a team and is vocal while doing so. The jumper, especially on the baseline as well as scoring off the dribble combined with her court vision
#14 Kiersten Johnson Kiersten Johnson 6'3" | C Duncanville | 2022 State TX
(Up from #20)
Johnson still has me thinking about her dominance when her school team traveled to Houston to play and watching her control the game, from both ends is forever embedded in my mind so seeing her do the same thing on whatever PLATFORM I caught her on was nice because always remember “it’s not what you DO, it’s who you DO it AGAINST” and her swatting shots galore was exciting, so was her playing the passing lane and handling the ball coast to coast for baskets but her scoring facing the basket as well as on putbacks, have jumped
