To start, let’s go to South Jersey to look at a few players the PGH NJ scouts & writers have included in their rankings.
Maggie Mulligan Maggie Mulligan PG Haddon Township | 2023 NJ – PG, Haddon Township
Mulligan squeaks in toward the back half of our top-50 list, but she put together a fantastic spring season for Haddon Township, showing a great ability to score in the lane and she has all the traits of a dominant guard who can make her presence felt in the lane and score at will.
Her defense is also incredibly impressive as she’s a great perimeter defender and often forced opponents into bad shots. That coupled with driving in the lane well spells disaster for opponents.
Haddon Township has been one of the better all-around programs in the Colonial Conference and with Mulligan clicking on all cylinders, the Colonial is in for some tough games.
Ava Eberly Ava Eberly 5'10" | SG Williamstown | 2023 State NJ – SG, Williamstown
Eberly broke out in a big way this spring, putting up double-figure scoring averages and turning into one of the best perimeter shooters in the Tri-County Conference, knocking down nearly two three-pointers a game.
She ended up leading Williamstown in scoring and three-point shooting this spring, accounting for over half of the made three-pointers for the Lady Braves.
Her break-out took opponents by surprise as she was able to create her own space on the floor and easily knock down shots. Teams couldn’t find ways to stop her and this summer, playing for Team Final, Eberly has worked on becoming that much more unstoppable. It’s going to pay dividends this season.
Avery Kessler Avery Kessler SG Shawnee | 2023 State NJ – SG, Shawnee
Kessler got her ability to shine with the Renegades this spring after struggling to find playing time with Cherokee as a freshman.
The transfer to Medford and Shawnee was incredible as Kessler became a double-figure scorer, averaging nearly three steals a game and two made three-pointers a game in her sophomore year.
She’s solidified herself as a mainstay in the starting lineup for Shawnee and is one of the most electrifying players in the Olympic Conference, so her junior year should be that much better overall.
