She is one the better players in her class moving without the ball, but her strength is when the ball is in her hands. She can finish with either hand and her jump shot is solid. As a 9th grader she’s light years ahead of where most kids her age are.
Lydia Schmitter– “She’s too small,” “she doesn’t shoot the 3 ball that well,, etc. etc. Schmitter is a gamer if I’ve ever seen one. She gets to the basket at will and finishes at a pretty high clip. I watched her a few times over the summer playing for Minnesota Stars Voyce and I often heard coaches yelling, “don’t let her go right,” and where does she go, RIGHT where she wants too! Defensively she’s got great hands and anticipation shooting the passing lanes leading too easy buckets. She’s another position-less player that you just have to have on the court.
Kaily Korba– Whether it’s in the paint or beyond the arc, Korba gets it done. She’s a crafty lefty that seems to always be in the right spot for that offensive rebound for the put back. Korba’s ability to handle the ball in the open court helps set teammates up for easy transition baskets and allows her to get to the basket often finishing through contact. Korba moves well without the ball and has great hands. She’s a nice piece to an impressive puzzle the MN Heat are putting together.
Keagan McVicker Keagan McVicker 5'9" | CG Hastings | 2025 State MN – Standing an impressive 5’10″, McVicker is a coaches dream; skilled, unselfish and coachable. She has a good handle of the basketball and those long strides gets her to the rim with ease. Her footwork in the paint is Fred Astaire-like (that means it’s really good) and she takes advantage of her length shooting over the top of helpless defenders. She has the makings to follow in the steps of another great Hastings standout. Some of you may remember Mallory Brake Mallory Brake 6'0" | SF Hastings | 2020 State MN now of Creighton University. Not bad company to keep if you ask me.
Kendra Harvey Kendra Harvey 5'10" | CG Byron | 2025 State MN – When you play with the likes of Kendall McGee Kendall McGee 5'10" | CG Benilde-St. Margaret's | 2025 State MN , Sam Wills Sam Wills 6'0" | SG Visitation | 2025 State MN and Katie Kalzenberg, it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle, but Harvey just puts her head down and gets in where she fits in. She has a smooth handle and a bit of swagger with how she carries herself on the court. She has range on jumper and ice water in her veins as she’s not afraid to pull up and bury one from deep in her opponents face.
