Sophia Vital Sophia Vital 5'3" | PG Tabor Academy | 2023 State New E – Tabor/Bay State Jaguars – 5’3’’
’23 Rank: #2
You cannot talk about “Showtime”and not have Sophia Vital Sophia Vital 5'3" | PG Tabor Academy | 2023 State New E as the headliner. She is out of her mind when handling the ball. I haven’t seen anyone who can dismantle a full court press single-handedly the way she can. Weaving in and out of the defense, Vital uses her elite speed and quickness to explode downhill, leading to a spectacular play. Every game Vital plays in, you can make a 5-minute highlight reel just off her finishes at the rim, never mind her passing, defense, and ball handling. What I appreciate about Vital the most is that she always gives you your money’s worth by playing harder than anyone on the court and digging in on defense every possession. Vital’s summer was filled with a handful of exciting offers, none bigger than the University of Wisconsin.
Aoibhe Gormley Aoibhe Gormley 5'8" | CG Thayer Academy | 2023 New E – Thayer/ MA Huskies – 5’9’’
’23 Rank: #3
The Boston University commit Aoibhe Gormley Aoibhe Gormley 5'8" | CG Thayer Academy | 2023 New E is one of the best passers in the ’23 class. You know a no-look or one-handed halfcourt bounce pass is coming when she gets the ball in transition. When I saw her play in Chicago, she was one of the best players from the weekend and performed at a high level in front of rows of college coaches. Gormley elevates her game when the spotlight shines brightest and, in high leverage situations, always makes a big-time play. Gormley gets to the basket at will and uses her athleticism to contort her body to create a mind-blowing finish. She is a huge threat to pass, so the defense bite on Gormley’s fakes, clearing an easy path to the basket.
Yirsy Queliz Yirsy Queliz 5'5" | PG St Mary's | 2023 New E – St. Mary’s /MCW Starz – 5’5’’
’23 Rank: #6
Queliz always keeps the ball on a string and is excellent at creating space between herself and the defense to get off long-range bombs. She is one of the best shot creators in her class and also one of the best shooters. If you leave Queliz open, her shot is automatic. Queliz will use her quickness and speed to keep the defender off balance and then showcase her unstoppable step-back jumper if you try to guard her tight and limit her air space. She was one of the most fun players to watch at the Nike Tournament of Champions because of her innovation when facilitating. You never know what trick Queliz is going to pull out her sleeve next.
Kendall Eddy Kendall Eddy 5'8" | CG Brooks | 2023 State New E – Brooks/Lady Rivals – 5’7’’
’23 Rank: #11
The most talented scoring guard when you consider shooting, shot creation, and three-level scoring is Kendall Eddy Kendall Eddy 5'8" | CG Brooks | 2023 State New E , and there is not a close second. She destroys teams in the pick and roll because if the defender goes under the screen, Eddy buries a three. Eddy turns the corner and shows off her mid-range package or throws a bullet pass for an assist if the defense fights through and gets over the screen. I watched Eddy in practice in mid-August, and her court vision is flat-out ridiculous. She throws one-handed passes effortlessly and puts them on a dime. If it’s the killer crossover, the Shamgod, or the lethal pull-up jumper, Eddy will always find a way to get the audience on their feet.
Genesis Garcia Genesis Garcia 5'6" | PG Lawrence Academy | 2023 State New E – Lawrence Academy/MCW Starz – 5’8’’
’23 Rank: #66
When you watch Garcia, she isn’t going to blow you away with speed and athleticism but is one of the craftiest guards in her class. Her footwork and ball-handling are elite. So deceptive with her ball and head fakes, Garcia will fool any defender standing in her path. Her turnover rate is low, and she makes smart decisions with the basketball. During the Nike Tournament of Champions in July, Garcia made some passes that made your jaw drop. Her court vision is special, and Garcia can fit passes into any sized window with the right amount of touch and velocity.
Lauren Sabia Lauren Sabia 5'7" | CG Simsbury | 2023 State New E – Simsbury – 5’9’’
’23 Rank: #100
Sabia might be the best shooter and by far has the most range of any girl in this article. She has the green light whenever she steps over halfcourt and will not hesitate to show off her lefty stroke. What is so impressive about Sabia is that she confidently hits threes contested. She doesn’t need a ton of space to get her shot off, and nothing phases her. Sabia is a strong rebounder and a self-igniter on the fast break. As soon as she pulls down the board, her head scans the court looking to make a play. At the Hoop Mountain Fall Showcase, nothing was more electric than Sabia’s personality. She is the kind of point guard you want to play with because she has fun playing the game and that energy trickles down to the rest of her team.
