1. Madison Watts Madison Watts 5'10" | SF Leuzinger | 2024 State CA – Mary Star (San Pedro) 2024
Watts made a solid impact as a freshman last season and looks to poised to take another step forward as a sophomore. She’s a wing who can handle the ball in transition and she can find open teammates. She’s able to get to the rim and she can take advantage of smaller defenders in the post. She has good footwork and spin moves around the rim and she can finish strong. Good rebounder and good defender too. Has some high upside as a wing.
2. Brooklyn Taylor – Serra (Gardena) 2024
What stood out the most to me about Taylor was her rebounding ability. She’s tough on the offensive glass getting put backs and keeping possessions alive. Her rebounding is definitely her strong suit. She has a nice touch around the rim and can go up strong but could use a little more work on her finishing. She can handle the ball a bit in transition; she can play the high post and she actually has some solid court vision. She looks to make the right pass when she has the ball.
3. Ava Dominguez – Rosary 2023
Dominguez was one of the best stretch fours that I saw all weekend. She can shoot very well from the three-point line. Great catch and shoot player who spots up well with a quick release. She moves very well without the ball, floating around the perimeter and diving around the rim for an easy two. She sets screens well and is pretty good in the pick and roll. She’s able to crash the glass. Good size for a forward.
4. Mia Fernandez – Swoosh Select
I wasn’t able to get Fernandez’ year or HS, but she played for Swoosh Select and looked like a solid front court prospect. Defensively is where she stood out the most to me. She has good length and she contests shots well in the paint. Has the ability to be a good shot blocker. Offensively she has a soft touch around the rim and can use the glass properly to finish. She can be a good rebounder, she definitely gets good rebounding position, but she could be a little quicker to the ball rather than wait for the ball to come to her.
