Big commitments are coming in and big offers too! Here is a look at a few of the latest big things happening around the ’Sooner State!’
Carrigan Hill Carrigan Hill 5'8" | PG Booker T. Washington | 2022 State OK | 5-6 PG | Booker T. Washington | 2022 | @Carrigan_Hill
Seminole State College continues its tradition of finding players around Oklahoma who are highly ranked (Carrigan is No. 27), yet woefully under-recruited. They did it last year with Alexis Lewis Alexis Lewis 5'11" | PF Sapulpa | 2021 State OK from Sapulpa who is going to be a gamechanger for them this season and should they secure the services of Carrigan following her senior season, SSC is going to be an absolute force in NJCAA Women’s Basketball. With tremendous court vision and passing skill, I have always thought Carrigan was a Division-I point guard. At 5’6″ she has the size to make it a mid-level D-I and all of the ability and smarts required. She can light it up from long range and plays lock-down defense. She is a joy to watch and I am very happy that we have another year of her in our high school ranks to see everything that she can do. Wherever she ends up, she is going to make a coach very, very happy. Should she end up at SSC, I would not be at all surprised to see her do great things and still move on to an NCAA Division-I school before all is said and done.
JayInn McCalister | 5-10 F | Del City | 2022 | @jayInn_123
Speaking of rankings, you’ll be shocked to know that I not only do not always get it right when it comes to rankings, I also don’t always get every player in the rankings that should be there. JayInn is one of those players. She is a tremendous athlete who has racked up offers from several schools in the region, most recently Barclay and outstanding head coach Scott Post. How I overlooked her is beyond me. She is a straight-up scoring machine. McCalister has great size, a pretty left-handed stroke, and walks in the gym shooting. She can fill it up from long range and has the handles to make defenders pay should they step out on her at the three-point line. She gets to the rim with a quickness and can finish strong with either hand. JayInn also has the post moves of a really good ’four’ and is definitely a true forward who can play either spot. I can’t wait to catch a Del City game and see her in person this season… perhaps even apologize for not having written about her sooner.
Mya Brown Mya Brown 5'5" Midwest City School | 2023 OK | 5-7 PG | Midwest City | 2023 | @mya94447204
Mya put on a show at the I-35 Showcase and PGH Top-250 a month or so back and turned a lot of heads among the coaches and scouts in the building. A few of the coaches who were impressed with her tremendous slashing ability and her ability to finish at the rim were the guys from Seward County. They recently offered the junior guard, her first scholarship offer. She is a scoring machine with silky smooth handles who relishes the chance to take her defender one on one and break their ankles on the way to the rim. She has a fun personality that makes other players gravitate toward her and as a point guard she is a natural team leader. Brown is going to be a big part of what the Bombers do this season and next and could see even more offers heading her way very, very soon! Congratulations!
