Continue ReadingFor a lot of players the difference between their freshman and sophomore seasons can be huge. The 2024 class got their first year of high school out of the way and are ready to make the jump to become elite basketball players. The more we lay eyes on these girls, the more we believe their stock will rise. It’s important for them to attend these events because it helps strengthen their college recruitment and can potentially help them move up in the Prep Girls Hoops rankings. Here are the girls who raised their stock at the Top 250 Expo.
Rachel Kottke Rachel Kottke 5'8" | CG Buffalo Lake-H-S | 2024 State MN – Guard, Buffalo Lake
Kottke is a 5’9 combo guard that plays with no fear and has a great motor. She is a well rounded player that can shoot, get to the bucket and lock down some of the best on defense. Rachel typically has some size on the opposed defender, and uses that to her advantage. With her long strong build she is able to use her size to get blocks and rebounds on defense.
Itoru Etuko – Guard, Totino Grace
The 5’6 guard was great on Sunday doing what she does best, getting to the basket. On offense she has a quick first step off the bounce and speed to compliment it. Currently ranked 80th in the class, Etuko is a crafty athletic kid who can read and react on the court based on who is guarding her, usually exposing the defender’s faults. She plays aggressive on both ends of the court and uses her speed on defense to beat her player to the spot where she can get easy steals.
Claire McGregor Claire McGregor 5'7" | CG Maple River | 2024 State MN – Guard, Maple River
The first thing that came to mind when I saw the 5’6 guard is ‘leader.’ I also noticed right off the bat her willingness to win by doing all the little things, especially when it came down to the wire. For being on the shorter side she’s got great size and a strong body for a guard. Ranked at 82, Claire has all the tools on offense, where she is great at putting the ball in the hoop and seems as though she can get a bucket whenever.
Maddie Ziembiec Maddie Ziembiec 6'1" | SF Chanhassen | 2024 State MN – Forward, Chanhassen
Maddie showed out on Sunday demonstrating to us that she’s a multi-dimensional player. At 6’1 she is long and seems to be able to outstretch her arms. For her size, she is very active on offense and can do an assortment of things for whatever team she’s on. She has solid court vision where she can pass to the cutter or hit the open player for the shot. Her best talent on the court is her ability to play inside and outside making her a tough person to guard. Ranked at #96, the forward will continue to improve.
Elizabeth Corley Elizabeth Corley 5'9" | CG United Christian | 2024 State MN – Guard, United Christian
Corley was great in the up and down game on transition offense and defense. At 5’9 she has good size and a great build that she uses to get around her defenders. The combo guard can attack the hoop or shoot the outside shot. She was great at knocking down the catch-and-shoot threes. Currently ranked at 91, we can see that she put in extra work over the summer.
