13.5 hours of Scrimmages at Bullitt East: Standouts
In this article:
After a Saturday that began at 6:45 am (for me) and didn’t end until I made it back home at 10:15 pm, this will be a quick round-up of players I witnessed during scrimmages held at Bullitt East on November 20th. I only wish I could have stuck around to watch more than a single half for each of these players on a jam-packed day. Who knows what I may have missed while sitting in the other gym?
There were a few players from teams that I have seen during a practice session in the past two weeks that I will not be discussing in this article. They are already discussed in a previous article, or in an article yet to be written. You know who you are. And if I haven’t been to your practice and I neglect to mention you here check back in 3 or 4 days when I get back to my coverage of this day.
Monica Lindsey Monica Lindsey 5'5" | CG Central Hardin | 2022 State KY – ’22 5’5″/CG – Central Hardin EAB Tennessee Tusculum University
If you haven’t seen the Lindsey twins this is your last year to see the show during a Kentucky High School game before they both take their talents south to Tusculum University in Greeneville, Tennessee. She intends to Major in either Psychology or Criminology.
Monica is more of the Point Guard, although both players could play either Guard position. Her crossover leaves defenders standing like their shoes are glued to the floor. She penetrated to the hole for lay-ups finishing on the left side of the lane or to drive and kick out to her sister or another shooter.
Alyssa Lindsey Alyssa Lindsey 5'7" | SG Central Hardin | 2022 State KY – ’22 5’6″/SG – Central Hardin EAB Tennessee Tusculum University
Both players are F A S T fast. These two push the tempo with the ball, by running the floor ahead of the ball and by pressuring opponents’ ballhandlers in transition and the half-court. Each scored on a layup at lightning speed in the first few minutes and both are tenacious on the glass and as defenders.
Alyssa nailed a wing three off of a post kick with a very Quick Release. In college, she wants to study Psychology or Criminology. Tusculum has settled their needs at Guard for the foreseeable future with the Lindsey twins.
Shaelyn Steele Shaelyn Steele 5'5" | PG Russell | 2024 State KY – ’24 5’5″/PG – Russell
Steele has great speed and brings the ball up under pressure and was able to penetrate against one of the best on-ball defenders (a D-1 prospect) I have seen. Her crossover is lightning quick and she keeps the ball so low when in traffic I can’t imagine anyone taking it from her one-on-one.
Ranked as the #1 Point Guard in the class of 2024 she was disrupting passes on Defense and after a steal found a teammate for an assist with a full-court pass.
Daisha White Daisha White 5'11" | C DuPont Manual | 2022 State KY – ’22 5’11″/SF – DuPont Manual
White is a very smooth athlete that goes hard in all aspects of the game. She is an Out of Zone that just goes and gets the ball for her team even while playing out of position today as Center due to other players being unavailable. She held her own against a team loaded with Frontcourt talent and no other considerable size to help her.
She is skilled in every way a Frontcourt player needs to be but has seen little interest from College recruiters as of three months ago no one had even contacted her but I was unable to ask about this yesterday. Maybe it is because it is hard to pin down which position she should play but there has to be a place for her somewhere.
