Stay tuned for Breakouts from Day 2 as well as my All-Freshmen Team
2022
Jasmyn Jackson-6’3 PF (Cypress Creek)
Jackson has me wondering if she can sing or dance yet she still was a hit and it starts with the base, she’s long and athletic, and since she stands around 75 inches with a wingspan of at least that of someone 6’5. watching her snag rebounds out of the air, yes I said SNAG, as well as attacking and finishing around the rim was nice, for me, so were her hands and footwork, and let me not omit her timing as she blocked altered, and deflected shots
Lauren McWhite-5’9 G (Cy Ranch)
McWhite didn’t play last season yet she definitely made an impact. First of all “she plays within herself” and understands how to score in the flow, which means in this instance that she doesn’t force anything yet the jumper was clicking, she does a good job creating her shot under pressure plus she rebounded on both ends and did a good job defensively
2023
Krishawn Lee Krishawn Lee 5'10" | SG Cypress Creek | 2023 State #47 Nation TX -5’11 SF (Cypress Creek)
Lee understands with Rori Harman and Kendall Hunter moving on to Austin and playing for the Texas Longhorns that 75% of their offense went with them, scoring and assists, yet she’s a capable score, mid to long-range is nice, so are her acrobatic finishes after contact yet her poise under pressure definitely added fuel to the fire
Jaeda Larry-5’9 G (Cy Ranch)
Larry sets the defender up with a deceptive first step and that enables her to get to the basket quite a bit yet her power and strength as well as being under control allows her to finish strongly after contact. She scores facing the basket and on putbacks, rebounded well, and defended
2024
Amirah Gray-5’8 SF (Clear Springs)
Gray is “long and athletic” yeah I know her height but I’m not a novice and her TIMING on blocking shots as well as “playing the passing lane” is what alerted me into super focus, yet her focus on the court coupled with her UPS, elevating over taller players to score and (or) rebound, along with her upside tells me a lot
Cynthia LeCompte-5’7 G (Barbers Hill)
LeCompte made my Tip Sheet the first time I saw her, I always tell people “the search bar is there for a reason” and I hate being bothered yet watching her not get bothered by the defense falls into what I said years ago “she definitely has star potential” and she showed me how much she progressed from the initial sighting and she still has some good upside
