Seniors Who Shined in the Ribault Preseason Tournament

Some of the top Seniors on the First Coast participated in the  Ribault preseason tournament.   In this article, we look at the performances of some of the players who stood out. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91575" first="Maddie" last="Millar"],  2022 ,  5’8′ Guard (Bishop Kenny).</strong>   [player_tooltip player_id="91575" first="Maddie" last="Millar"] put on a shooting display that was “for the ages” on night one of the Ribault Preseason tournament.    By the end of the first half,  the newly signed UNF  recruit had connected on at least  5 long-range bombs.   Millar did other things well in addition to shooting.  She did a good job of running the offense and a good job of handling the ball under pressure.    In the final moments of the game, Millar was automatic from behind the free-throw line.  Miller was joined in the backcourt by Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id="247118" first="Sophia" last="Rueppell"].  These two could be the best backcourt in the city when it’s all said and done. <strong>Tai Baldwin, 2022, 5’8″ Guard -Forward  (University Christian). </strong>  Baldwin looked like she was already in mid-season form at the tournament.   Baldwin had some nice three-point shots.   Baldwin had some strong drives to the basket and some very nice finishes.   Her defensive effort stood out.   Baldwin did a good job playing on the ball and also played the passing lanes as well.   Baldwin showed a lot of versatility guarding the one, two, and three positions.  She had some timely blocks that were the result of grit and determination.    She moved her feet well and was able to stay in front of some talented ballplayers on the other side. <strong>Lauriell Green, 2022, 5’8 Forward (Bishop Kenny).</strong>  Green had a strong showing at the Ribault preseason tournament.   Green’s quickness was noticeable as was the energy she plays with.  She also showed some variety to her game, connecting on multiple three-point shots and taking the ball to the rack aggressively.   Green was definitely not shy about taking charges and playing through contact.  She attacked the basket and often got rewarded at the free-throw line.   Green also ran the floor very well. <strong>Monique  Cepeda 2022,  5’10”  (University Christian). </strong> Cepeda was really impressive during the preseason tournament.  She is a  very smart player who is willing to do all of the little things.  Cepeda runs the floor well and can shoot on at all three levels on the court.   In this tournament, she shot the midrange well and was very good from behind the three-point line.   Cepeda also did a good job on the defensive end and crashing the boards for rebounds. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="248573" first="Alex" last="Lucey"] 2022, 5’2″ (Bishop Kenny).</strong>  Lucey was all over the court making life miserable for the opposing team.   Her help-side defense was really good.  On offense,  she did a good job of getting her team in the right plays,  and her experience really shined on the court. &nbsp;
