We’ve even touched on some top returning overall talent that the WDA has to offer, but in this particular article we’ll touch on some of the best gritty, tenacious, dog like mentality on the court players from the WDA… That’s right I’m talking about the top returning rebounders! Let’s take a dive in.
Anthonett Nabwe Anthonett Nabwe 5'9" | SF Jamestown | 2022 State ND – Jamestown – (5’9/PF/2022) – The returning scorer for Jamestown and current reigning rebounding champion from last year, Nabwe is impressive to say the least. Anthonett averaged a near double double season with 9.8 rebounds per contest and a healthy 13.5ppg. Nabwe isn’t just your ordinary post player. She’s mobile and able to get to the rim and finish with either hand. She’s aggressive and hungry for the basketball every chance she gets. Look for Nabwe to up her scoring production from last year and be one of the hungriest players you’ve seen in a while.
Logan Nissley Logan Nissley 6'0" | CG Bismarck Century | 2023 State ND – Century – (5’10/CG/2023) – The returning WDA scoring champion and second rebounding leader in the conference, Nissley is a bucket and a half. She’s versatile, aggressive, smart and crafty. Logan averaged 21.4ppg and 7.2 rpg. Standing at 5’10 she’s a true 3 level scorer being able to play back to the basket against smaller defenders and so good with or without the basketball in setting up her teammates. If I had to wager. I predict Nissley continues to the be the top scorer in the WDA averaging around 24 a game this year.
Avery Lunde Avery Lunde 5'9" | SG Minot | 2024 State ND – Minot – (5’9/CG/2024) – The freshman phenom from last year returns for more blood. Avery averaged 15.6 ppg and 7.1 rpg. She’s long, athletic and so versatile with the basketball in her hand. Lunde is so much more than just a scorer on the court. She does so many little things that coaches crave for in getting after lose balls, crashing the boards hard and playing hard nosed defense. Look for Avery to really amp it up this year in her overall production on the court as she’ll be looked at as one of the leaders for the Majettes come winter time.
Shelby Meyer Shelby Meyer 5'7" | CG Williston | 2022 State ND – Williston – (5’7/CG/2022) – Meyer is back for her senior year and I anticipate it to be a good one. Shelby averaged 14.1 ppg and 7.0 rpb last season. Don’t underestimate this athlete! She can flat out score the ball in a variety of ways and helps Williston in so many different aspects especially on the defensive end. Williston has had a bad string of luck within their last few season, but I look for them to snag a few games this year with the young talent that they have coming up.
Katie Falk – Jamestown – (5’8/SF/2024) – Falk is a true team player. She had a solid freshman year last year averaging 8 ppg and 7 rebounds. She got a lot of playing production in being able to crash the boards hard for second chance opportunities and I look for her to have a great sophomore campaign. Falk isn’t the fastest or the flashiest player on the court, but she get’s the job done and then some. She can play inside or out and as she develops a better feel for the game she’ll be a true asset to the blue jays in the near future.
