The 1-seed, Red Bank Catholic, took on the 2-seed Manasquan in the championship with the Caseys emerging victorious in a 55-36 win.
With the WOBM Classic now completed, it’s time to take a look at the top performances of the holiday tournament.
Justine Pissott Justine Pissott 6'3" | SG Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ – Red Bank Catholic
Pissott won the WOBM Classic MVP after four-straight impressive performances for the Caseys, averaging 14.8 PPG in those four games. The senior forward has scored in double-figures in every game so far this season and her 19 points against Rumson Fair-Haven was her third 19+ point performance of the season. Pissott is going to be competing for Shore Conference honors by season’s end.
Mary Donnelly Mary Donnelly 5'10" | SF Manasquan | 2022 State NJ – Manasquan
Donnelly has once again been a fantastic guard this season for Manasquan and nearly posted two-straight triple-doubles to end the WOBM Classic in the quarters and semis. She averaged 11.0 PPG in the four games and against Toms River North and Donovan Catholic, Donnelly averaged 12.0 PPG, 8.0 RPG and 10.0 APG. Those numbers, even in a small sample size, are insane.
Gabriella Ross Gabriella Ross 5'7" | SG Donovan Catholic | 2023 State NJ – Donovan Catholic
The junior went off during the WOBM Classic, leading all scorers in the tournament at 23.8 PPG, including a career-high 34 points in the third place game against Rumson Fair-Haven. She’s averaging a career-high 22.0 PPG so far in her junior season and has quickly emerged as a dark horse Player of the Year candidate in the Shore Conference.
Rhian Stokes Rhian Stokes 5'8" | PG Ewing | 2024 State NJ – Ewing
Unfortunately, Stokes was able to play in just one game as Ewing shut down its program until after the holiday break due to Covid. However, in the round of 16 game against Toms River East, she was dominant, recording 20 points, five assists, two blocks and seven steals. Stokes is averaging close to 20.0 PPG on the season so far for Ewing, who is a team to watch in New Jersey.
Julia Grodzicki – Toms River North
Grodzicki shined in TRN’s tournament-opening win against Marlboro, a 60-57 overtime thriller where she scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Overall in three games played in the WOBM Classic, Grodzicki averaged 16.0 PPG and around 3.0 RPG for the Mariners. She’s well on her way to a career-best season in her junior year.
