We will first focus on the players in the Class AAAAAA in Arizona and see who stood out above the rest over the holiday week.
Savanna Creal Savanna Creal 5'11" | SF Hamilton | 2024 State AZ – Sophomore – 6’0″ – Hamilton High School
Savanna Creal Savanna Creal 5'11" | SF Hamilton | 2024 State AZ , the six-foot-tall sophomore from Hamilton High School, put on a show in the first few games of the season while playing in a tournament over the Thanksgiving holiday week. She has a combined total of 59 points so far and averaged 19.7 points per game throughout tournament play. Creal plays as the aggressor on both ends of the floor and has a great sense of the game for an underclassman. #33 and the Lady Huskies are going to be one of the teams to follow along with throughout the entirety of the 2021-2022 high school basketball season.
Salais Jayla – Sophomore – Westview High School
Salais is a sophomore combo guard for the Westview Lady Knights that is long and scrappy! So far in the season, she is averaging 14.8 points per game for a total of 59 points. Jayla is also averaging 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 steals and, 1.8 assists per game to prove that she is an all-around skilled athlete. The guard is deadly from behind the arc so do not leave her open or let her find a way to get comfortable. Already knocked down 10 threes and is shooting 48%!!! Going to be a very fun player to watch over the next few years.
Alyssa Fraulino – Junior – 5’8″ – Mountain Ridge High School
Fraulino is a five-foot-eight junior for the Mountain Ridge Lady Mountain Lions that has had an outstanding first few games late in November. The shooting guard has played in all five games so far and is averaging 15.0 points per game along with 2.8 steals, 1.4 rebounds and, 1.2 assists per game. In a double-digit win over Shadow Ridge last night, Alyssa had 20 points (4 three-pointers), 2 defensive rebounds, 5 steals, and an assist. The 2021-2022 basketball season is already shaping up to be a good one so far for the Lady Mountain Lions and #10.
Zoe Carrillo – Sophomore – 6’0″ – Mountain Pointe High School
Carrillo is a sophomore combo guard for the Mountain Pointe Lady Pride and she has started the year off hot by averaging 12.3 points per game and 11.8 rebounds per game in the first week of play. The six-footer has also averaged 2.5 assists, 2.3 steals and,1.5 blocks per game as well! In a close three-point win over Maricopa High School on the day before Thanksgiving, Zoe finished with 19 points, 17 rebounds (13 defensive, 4 offensive), 2 steals and, 2 blocks to help her team pull it out. I hope to see this energy throughout the entire season!
Ella Malee Ella Malee 5'7" | SG Hamilton | 2024 State AZ – Sophomore – 5’7″ – Hamilton High School
Malee is another standout sophomore that really proved herself in the first week of tournament play for the season. Even as one of the younger players on the court, Ella shows a level of confidence that is refreshing to see. She runs the floor well and looks for the trap to follow the ball for an easy lay-up. #11 is averaging 11.3 points per game, 3.3 steals per game, and 3.0 rebounds per game to start off the season with a total of 34 points. This is the type of player that will just continue to grow and blossom into a top performer for her team come senior year.
