One thing about evaluating talent, it doesn’t take me long yet she’s a perfect example of placing yourself in multiple settings in front of knowledgeable people who know what they’re looking at, I’m talking about me because she looked nothing like this in club basketball so you may want to keep an eye on where I’ll be as well as stay in touch because again, my daughter had over 100 D1 offers and she is the 1% of the 1% so just keeping it real because had I not attended Battlin Billies Classic, the vast majority of these players were unbeknownst to me and I saw quite a few players that can play somewhere at the next level
2022
Carleigh Wenzel Carleigh Wenzel 5'11" | SG O'Connor | 2022 State #51 Nation TX -6’0 G (Antonian)
Wenzel and her picture-perfect jumper always make me smile and witnessing her score her 2000 point, it’s here in the link, brought back memories of yesteryear when I first caught her. She elevates over defenders with ease to score, the jumper or around the basket, yet her unselfishness continues to stand out and I was truly happy I had a chance to see her “go off” in probably the last time I’ll catch her in high school yet up next, Virginia Tech and I know she’ll be ready for the challenge
Emma Hubbard-6’0 C (Liberty Hill)
Hubbard left a lasting impression, first of all, she stands at “the magic number” which is 6’0 and it’s magic because of the constant calls I received forever from college coaches about players that size or taller yet the magic doesn’t stop there as she showed she could knock down the mid-range jumper, yes they call about that too because it’s a “lost art” but she did a good job taking the defender off the dribble and finishing after contact and on the flip, she defended and rebounded well
2023
Ella Hartmann-5’6 G (Fredericksburg)
Hartmann impressed me at the one, her poise under pressure has always been there, so has her BB-IQ, keep in mind I saw this in the 6th grade when she played on the Fredericksburg Pride club team as well as in a few Individual Showcases but her shooting was something else as she created her shot under pressure and consistently knocked down shots with a hand in her face, mid to long-range but she also saw the floor and made the right passes to the right people
Bella Dickens-5’7 G (Iowa Park)
Dickens had me tweet out WTD, that’s my acronym for What The Dickens after I saw the play developing and I’m thinking “no they’re not” and laughed saying “yes she did” and I took a pic and called her Miss Alley-Oop because she connected on many, think athleticism and body control while visualize what I just said however she goes hard the whole game, you can’t teach that and her attacking and finishing off the dribble as well as the pull-up jumper, were both nice as well
Mya Wilson-5’8 G (Stephenville)
Wilson dropped a variety of highlights from multiple ways, first of all, she outrebounded players over “the magic number” which was nice yet her athleticism stood out across the board as she read the defense and played the passing lane, and since she can handle the ball, that led to scoring opportunities but she also has good court vision and made some nice passes for assist yet her ability to go one on one usually required assistance because of her variety of moves to attack
