Continue ReadingI already dropped sophomore Amaya Urias (Fort Stockton) who was one of the top posts as well as 6’3 Chelsea Butler (Lovelady) in that same article and earlier today I did a piece on Fredericksburg who has quite a few impressive players from the 2024 class and with me being a true expert and not just saying I’m one, over the years I’ve used “talent is everywhere” if you know what you’re looking at so this is why I attended a small-town event with teams I usually don’t catch until the playoffs, well state tournament but here we go
Please note that players listed under HONORABLE MENTION were not seen or seen a lot by me due to time constraints. I was at the event for opening day so they’re in the database if I catch them down the road
Autumn Galvan-PG (Sinton)
Galvan does what I love seeing players do, play the passing lane, it irks me to watch players watch the defender catch the ball and then try and defend, but not her, she’s ready and alert but she also saw the floor well and created her shot
Ella Nietz-5’9 G (Antonian)
Nietz created her shot under pressure and showed she could drop the jumper because the pull-up is smooth and she has nice form as well as good follow through on her shot but the huge thing is she doesn’t force shots
Shelby Pugh (Lovelady)
Pugh has some impressive timing and she used it to not only block shots but come up with steals playing “on the ball” yet she also played the passing lane well
Aaliyah Jones (Lovelady)
Jones is athletic and uses her athleticism well to not only attack but finish strongly after contact yet she also can create her shot and drop the mid to long-range jumper
Ella Garner-F (Granbury)
Garner also creates her shot well under pressure and she understands how to confuse the defender with a deceptive first step, that enables her to finish, after the lick, but the pull-up jumper is definitely a threat
Mya Wesley-5’5 G (Stephenville)
Wesley brought some excitement with her, yes she’s athletic and yes she understands how to apply pressure on the defense, this includes on the ball yet on the flip, she also applies pressure offensively by using that same athleticism to take defenders off the dribble and finish after contact or she can just drop the “stop and pop” in transition
