Role players are not always glamourous but are needed in order for a team to win ball games. Let’s take a look at some role players from the tournament that stood out to me.
Christianity Garland | Guard | 2025 | Maumelle
Christianity played on the wing and looked to make plays when the opportunity came. She is a player that hustles, plays tough defense, can push it in transition, and drive the ball strong in the half-court. She didn’t force anything and played within herself.
Maggie Cole | Wing | 2025 | Green County Tech
Maggie’s role was to play tough hard-nosed defense, handle the ball, make smart plays, and look to create when the opportunity presents itself. That’s a lot of responsibility, but she had the skill set to handle it. She pushed the ball well in transition, cut well in the half-court, finished in traffic vs contact, and harassed the opposing player with her tough physical defense.
Sophia Gonzalez | PG | 2025 | Green County Tech
I’ve always believed playing point guard is one of the hardest positions to play in any sport. You have so many responsibilities. Sophia did a good job of running the team, staying calm under pressure, getting in the lane to make plays, finishing vs contact, and always looking up the floor in transition.
Lyndsey McDonald | Guard | 2025 | Conway
Lyndsey has a good understanding of the game. She played solid over the course of the tournament. She applied good on-ball pressure when on defense, she handled the ball and had good vision in the open court. She made a few good passes to teammates that led to some easy buckets.
Kaira White | Forward | 2025 | Russellville
Kaira is a player that is going to give you some energy and just flat out play hard. She didn’t try to do too much. She played hard on defense, rebounded the ball well, and would slash into the paint for easy finishes.
