These particular players didn’t necessarily score big points, but they did what was necessary to put their team in a position to win ball games. Let’s take a look at some of those players.
CJ McCullough | Forward | 2023 | Glen Rose High School
CJ was a forward that came off the bench and provided the much-needed energy that her team needed. She played a tough hard-nosed game. CJ does the little things that don’t always get recognition. She rotated on defense, lockout, rebounded aggressively, and anticipates passes.
Mary Drakes | Forward | 2024 | Fountain Lake High School
Mary did a little bit of everything out of the forward position. She can attack off the dribble from the perimeter, work out of the high post, and is effective off the catch from various spots on the floor. When the defense is closing out she has the footwork to make a move without traveling to get to the rim or shoot the mid-range jumper. Defensively she has the anticipation and awareness to be a solid defender.
Sierra Wilmath | Forward | 2022 | Cutter Morning Star High School
Sierra is a forward, but she also saw some time at the point position. She did a good job of handling the ball in the open court and making good decisions. Her vision allows her to see plays develop and make on-target passes to teammates for open shots and easy finishes. She’s also a good defender that won’t get easily beat off the dribble. Sierra also does a good job of communicating with teammates while on the floor.
Devin Humphries | Post | 2022 | Cutter Morning Star High School
Devin is a dependable post player that doesn’t try to do too much. Her team can count on her to rebound the ball on the defensive end, provide good post denial defense when guarding someone on the low block, and produce good help defense when the offense attacks off the dribble. Offensively, she gets a few looks to score, but if you leave her open she has the ability to make the three-ball.
Sidney Townsend Sidney Townsend 5'7" | PF Nashville | 2022 State AR | Forward | 2022 | Nashville High School
Sidney is a slasher from the forward position. She attacks hard off the dribble and takes the ball strong and physically to the basket. Once at the rim she can finish with a soft touch with either hand. She also makes herself available when a teammate penetrates for the catch and shoot jumper or the drive to the basket.
Ka’symone Trotter | Forward | 2022 | Monticello High School
Ka’symone is an energy player. She is going to play hard on both ends of the floor. She fights hard for offensive and defensive rebounds. She won’t give up when her opponent has secured the rebound. She often fights for the ball trying to pry it away. Defensively she gives multiple efforts. She’s athletic enough to help on drives and then recover and not give up the spot-up shot.
