Lincoln Christian trailed by 10 at the end of the first quarter and by seven at the end of the third, but used a big fourth quarter to tie the game and force overtime. In overtime, Lincoln scored five to Victory’s four to take the game by a final score of 53-52. In overtime, the victorious Bulldogs were led by junior Adyson Roberts Adyson Roberts 5'8" | PG Lincoln Christian | 2023 State OK who scored three of her total 16 points to lead all scorers in the extra period.

Roberts earned her place as the player of the game not only with her tremendous performance in overtime – as mentioned above – but, with her outstanding performance over the course of the entire game. She is a smart player who rarely makes bad decisions as far as turnovers go, as she deftly handles the Bulldogs offense. She plays tough, hard-nosed defense and brings her softball mentality to the hardwood with good, physical play that is firm, yet fair. She showed great vision and is very talkative with her teammates on both ends of the floor. She opened with a three and was three of seven from the charity stripe. Most of her buckets came from driving to the basket and finishing strong, often with contact, leading to her numerous free throws. Roberts’ coach was pleased with her performance after the game and recommended her as one of the selections (amongst others) as the player of the game. Roberts is a definite prospect and come time for the 2023 rankings to be updated, she will be moving up from her current spot at No. 87.
Quote of the Game
“ Jessa Gilyard Jessa Gilyard 5'9" | SG Victory Christian | 2022 State OK is one of the best athletes in the state and I can say that with a lot of ease.”
– Lincoln Christian Head Coach Melody Stewart
Other Standout
Jessa Gilyard Jessa Gilyard 5'9" | SG Victory Christian | 2022 State OK | 5-9 SG | Victory Christian | 2022 | @Jessagilyard
As you can see from the quote above, even LCS Head Coach Melody Stewart had to acknowledge the tremendous ability of VCS star Jessa Gilyard Jessa Gilyard 5'9" | SG Victory Christian | 2022 State OK . In fact, she definitely had a case for player of the game. Her 31 points led all scorers… by far. She is a tremendous slashing scorer and, as Coach Stewart said, she is extremely athletic. She had the best midrange shot in the game. Gilyard is long and tall and to be quite honest, she is absolutely everywhere on the court. As the game progressed, the double team of LCS began to wear on her, yet Gilyard involved her teammates and worked hard on the defensive end to keep her team in the game and make sure they only just lost the game. Gilyard has offers from a few schools including Seward County – a very, very good basketball team. Currently ranked at No. 110, she definitely will be moving up; most likely a lot.
Audrey Hopkins Audrey Hopkins 5'11" | SF Lincoln Christian | 2025 State OK | 5-10 G/F | Lincoln Christian | 2025 | @Audrey_Hop
Man, it’s so good to run into a player that is a.) young and unranked and b.) one that you have seen before and can confirm that she is improving by leaps and bounds. Hopkins was at the PGH Top 250 and was a standout young player, but unfortunately did not crack the 2025 rankings. That will not be the case next time around. She is a tremendous player. Audrey is big and strong and can definitely play inside and outside. She made her money at the line on Tuesday night by going 11-for-14. I had a college coach tell me a while back that when he sees a player that can hit their free throws consistently, he knows that he can teach them how to hit three-pointers at a high clip. It makes sense. It isn’t a huge step back from the charity stripe to the three-point arc. Though she didn’t make any three-pointers against VCS, I can see it coming. Part of ranking freshmen is attempting to look into the future. She will be ranked come January and Audrey’s future is looking very, very bright!
