In the end, the Saints were unable to comeback against the Patriots lead to a 42-33 win for Parrott. Several players stepped up on each side for two teams that’ll make some noise in their respective classifications. Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look at the standouts from this contest.
Rachel Okonkwo (APA 2023 forward)
2023 forward Rachel Okonkwo is a force in the paint which makes her one of the primary scoring options for this Patriots team. Despite being put in a box-and-one for most of the contest, she was still able to get to her spots and attack defenders off the dribble. She adjusted to the defense by screening the zone and rolling to the basket for easy looks as well to the tune of 13 points.
Caroline Ouano (APA 2023 guard)
2023 guard Caroline Ouano is a true floor general for the Patriots and made a number of key plays to help her team maintain the lead in the second half. She hit timely shots, made great reads and took care of the basketball. Ouano is the type of guard that is an extension of the head coach on the floor and she continues to play at a high level every night.
Ariana Atkinson (JP2 2025 guard)
John Paul II has a promising freshman guard in Ariana Atkinson that can create shots for her teammates and herself. Despite not shooting the ball well in this game, she made several plays defensively to keep her team in the contest. Her ability to create separation off the dribble against any defender makes her tough to guard.
Dana Galinis (JP2 2023 forward)
2023 forward Dana Galinis provides a major interior presence for the Saints and at times, she imposed her will on both ends. She attacked mismatches in the post and used a number of moves to get to her spots and get good looks. Galinis an intriguing prospect with a potential to play a larger factor for this team as the season goes on.
