We are nearing the halfway point of the high school season. Today, we take a look at seven standouts who have played well to date:

Larrison has been a Swiss Army knife for Class A No. 1 Waldron this season. There really isn’t anything she doesn’t do well. She has gotten stronger since last year, which has helped her on drives to the basket. On one play against Shelbyville earlier this season, she drove right and used a jump stop to collect herself and finish through contact with nice touch. Her best attribute might be her defensive ability as she communicates extremely well and can guard multiple positions

Graham has really improved her ball skills and lateral quickness, which has made her a more well-rounded scorer. She has always been a pesky and versatile defender — that is a given. But her ability to shoot the basketball from distance is what makes her extremely valuable. Graham has seen more defensive attention this season, sometimes even being face-guarded. She has done a fine job of not getting frustrated and doing what her team needs at the time.
Jenna Cox, 2023, 5-8 PG, Triton Central
Cox stepped into the starting point guard role after the loss of 2021 Triton Central senior Taylor Heath, who is now playing at Hanover College. I really like her toughness and unselfishness at the position. She has long arms for her size and quick feet, which works to her advantage when guarding the ball. She is an accurate outside shooter, especially from both corners, and has shown the ability to score from midrange this season, whether it be a jump shot or a floater. Although Cox may not score a ton each game, she is an extremely important piece for the Tigers who can impact the game in other areas.

from Waldron as she does a number of things for the Chargers. She has a strong frame and is a versatile defender with her athleticism. I like her feel for the game as she is comfortable bringing the ball up the court and is able to create plays for teammates in transition. Right now, she is at her best when attacking the basket as her outside shot is still developing. She shot 66 free throws (58 percent) during the team’s first eight games of the season.

Wilkison is an exciting freshman prospect for Greensburg. I really like how fearless she plays against older players. She can get hot from the outside and does not need much time to get her jump shot off. Against 2A No. 2 Triton Central earlier this season, Wilkison scored 24 points and put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways. She finished 9-for-10 from the free throw line in that game. She is on her way to having a great career for the Pirates.
Madelyn Poe

, 2024, 5-5 PG, Hauser
Poe is a strong and physical point guard who can run the offense and score at a high rate. She spent her freshman season at Center Grove before transferring to Hauser. She is a confident shooter and seems to play with a chip on her shoulder. Opposing teams have had trouble staying in front of her as she changes her pace well and has a tight handle. She is going to score a ton of points for the Jets the next 2.5 seasons.
Madi Allen, 2025, 5-9 G/F, North Decatur
I was surprised to find out that Allen is just a freshman when watching her play against Eastern Hancock. She has been a solid piece for North Decatur as one of the team’s top scorers, rebounders and playmakers. She has good length, an athletic frame and gets off the floor well when rebounding or attempting a layup. Allen does not shoot a ton of outside shots but is an accurate free throw shooter with solid mechanics. She has been able to get to the foul line on a consistent basis in her first varsity season.
