Continue ReadingSeveral freshmen went completely off on the opening day of the Sandra Meadows Classic and I’ll drop that a little later, as well as one for the sophomores but first, the upperclassmen who just did it, in front of me, Victoria Flores (Duncanville) put up some numbers and so did her teammate Kenidi Glover Kenidi Glover 6'0" | PF Duncanville | 2025 State TX who will be on the All-Freshmen squad
2022
Madison Cockrell Madison Cockrell 5'8" | PG Bishop Lynch | 2022 State TX – 5’7 PG (Bishop Lynch)
Cockrell continues to show not only up but out and the UTSA signee put on a show with her dazzling moves and finishes on opening day. She saw the floor, made the right passes, and dropped the jumper, mid to long-range
Jazzy Owens Jazzy Owens 5'8" | PG Liberty | 2022 State TX -Barnett-5’7 G (Frisco Liberty)
Barnett is so explosive with the ball and her first step has always been one of her hugest assets but her finishing with contact as well as dropping the stop and pop jumper in transition was in full effect for the Rice signee
Ashlon Jackson Ashlon Jackson 5'10" | SG Hardin Jefferson | 2022 State #22 Nation TX -6’0 G (Hardin Jefferson)
Jackson is one of those players that “makes those around her better” and when you can score like she does, off the dribble as well as mid to long-range, her seeing the floor got teammates several easy looks and this will transition quickly at Duke
Bryana Hardy Bryana Hardy 6'2" | PF Lovejoy | 2022 State GA -6’1 F (Lovejoy) GA
Hardy elevates over defenders for not only the jumper but putbacks as well and since she’s long and athletic, that gives you an idea but she also battled for rebounds and played the passing lane well
Breanna Davis Breanna Davis 5'9" | PG Red Oak | 2022 State TX -5’8 PG (Red Oak)
Davis has always seen the floor well, even in middle school yet her pinpoint passes going full speed, with either hand just had me giggling but the North Texas signee also scored with the stop and pop as well as off the dribble
2023
RyLee Grays RyLee Grays 6'3" | PF The Village School | 2023 State #17 Nation TX -6’1 PF (Pearland)
Grays was so dominant around the rim, on both ends yet watching her dive, as well as slide across the court for loose balls, definitely raised the eyebrows of several college coaches in attendance but her defense was nice too
Jadyn Atchison Jadyn Atchison 6'1" | SG Cedar Hill | 2023 State TX -6’1 (Cedar Hill)
Atchison game is smooth and solid, her pull-up jumper is picture perfect and she dropped jumpers by creating her shot under pressure or in transition but she also scored off the dribble, after contact, and defended strongly
Chloe Clardy Chloe Clardy 5'9" | PG Conway | 2023 State AR -5’10 G (Conway) AR
Clardy is the #1 ranked player in Arkansas and she lived up to it by showing a complete game on the offensive end, the jumper, seeing the floor and off the dribble, as well as defensive by defending and rebounding
Caitlin Travis-5’7 PG (Walker) LA
Travis was instant offense and her intensity grabbed me immediately as she scored off the dribble and after playing the passing lane but her pull-up jumper from midrange is something else, so is her “on the ball defense:
Monica Marsh Monica Marsh 5'6" | CG Plano West | 2023 State TX -5’6 G (Plano West)
Marsh put her squad on her back and simply went off, scoring off the dribble with either hand as well as dropping the jumper but her court vision was also good as she set her teammates up for easy baskets
Camden Harrison-5’7 G (Mesquite Horn)
Harrison scored off the dribble as well as off the steal and her quick hands on the defensive end were impressive, so was her “on the ball pressure” which helped create numerous turnovers
