Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look at the standouts from this contest between two high-level Eastern North Carolina programs.
Emme Baber (West Carteret 2022 guard)
Despite not shooting well from the field, unsigned senior Emme Baber found a way to impact the game in multiple ways. She was true control over the offense and always gets her teammates in the right spots to be successful. Baber finished with six assists to lead the way for the Patriots and defended well against quality New Bern guards. She came into this contest as the teams leader in scoring and assists per game.
Caroline Baylis (West Carteret 2022 forward)
Carolina Baylis was a force on the glass getting extra possessions for her team and holding New Bern to one shot on the other end of the floor. She finished with eight points and 10 rebounds in this game and proved to be a quality rim protector forcing difficult shots from the Bears offense. Baylis will be an important part of this team going into conference play.
Jayden Lupton (West Carteret 2022 forward)
The third of this quality West Carteret senior trio is Jayden Lupton who also brings toughness and high level defense to this Patriots team. She gets quality looks at the basket every time down and is a matchup problem for most post players because she handles the ball well for her size. Lupton finished with six points, seven rebounds, and two blocks in the game.
Kyla Brice Kyla Brice 5'4" | PG New Bern | 2023 NC (New Bern 2023 guard)
New Bern’s offense was limited in this game, but whatever production they were able to get, it went through junior guard Kyla Brice Kyla Brice 5'4" | PG New Bern | 2023 NC . She’s the engine that makes the Bears go and it showed in this game thanks to her crafty ball handling and finishing in the paint. Brice is also a knockdown shooter giving the Bears a threat from distance.
