As I mentioned before, most of the reason they haven’t been there before is the sheer volume of quality players in Oklahoma and my inability to be everywhere at once. But, enough excuses. Let’s get on with talking about these great players!
No. 44 – Maddie Crandall Maddie Crandall 5'10" | CG Southmoore | 2022 State OK | 5-10 G | Southmoore | Hudl
I saw Maddie play in a tourney recently and realized that what I had suspected before – and didn’t follow up on, unfortunately – was true. Maddie is a straight-up scoring machine. She is long and tall and has a tremendous stroke from long range. She gets out in transition and runs the floor very well. Watch any game tape of Southmoore and you will notice Maddie when she is on the court. I promise you. She is a hard-nosed defender who got a couple of blocks each game that I saw due to her length and ability to close out on shooters. I’m not sure on offers for her or even if she is committed, but in my book, Maddie is a D-II prospect, and if you are a D-II or below coach you need to be scouting a Southmoore game very soon. The 2022 class doesn’t have too many 5’10″ guards who can shoot left!
No. 54 – Kya Wilson Kya Wilson 5'4" | CG Glenpool | 2022 State OK | 5-4 G | Glenpool | @kyawilsonnn
I had seen Kya on a showcase or two and in the summer several times, but seeing her with her high school team really helped to cement things in my mind. Kya is most definitely a college basketball player. She stands out whether it’s in person or on tape because of her high motor and just her “wants it,” if I can use that term. In high school ball especially, you can see the kids that just want it more than everyone else. She is in on every play, on the ground on every loose ball, and wants the ball in her hands for every important shot. She is just that kind of player and one that every college basketball team needs. She has good handles and plays incredible defense on and off the ball where she sticks like glue to her opponent. Kya is the real deal and I can’t wait to see where she ends up because I am a big fan!
No. 59 – Madi Surber Madi Surber 5'10" | CG Tuttle | 2022 State OK | 5-10 CG | Tuttle | @MadiSurber
Speaking of 5’10″ guards who can fill it up from deep, here is another Madi for you. This one however is already committed to Oklahoma State as a track and field athlete. Being the 4A State Champion in Cross Country hasn’t lessened her ability on the court however as she continues to pick up all-tournament awards everywhere she goes… as well as that state championship last season. Clearly, Surber is extremely athletic. On the court, she is well-rounded and loves picking up her opponent full court and making life very tough for them all game long. I’m guessing the cardio level is probably good for that, huh? A great-sized guard, she is unafraid to drive to the rim and finish inside where Tuttle’s bigs have done a good job of securing the lane. Basketball is missing out on a good one, but at least Jim Littell always has some options should he need to snag a few more practice players from the track team.
No. 60 – Adrienne Richmond Adrienne Richmond 5'6" | CG Del City | 2022 State OK | 5-6 CG | Del City | @_adrienne18
Del City has had a great season so far this year and surprised a lot of people around the world of Oklahoma basketball. A big part of that is Adrienne Richmond Adrienne Richmond 5'6" | CG Del City | 2022 State OK . A sure-handed guard who does all of the little things, Richmond has been getting big minutes for Del City and has them at 9-7 and looking like a playoff team. In the Del City system, she works well thanks to her vision and ability to make clean, crisp passes that are precise and timely. She is a guard who does a great job crashing the boards and securing a lot of rebounds for a 5’6″ player. Adrienne is a very good shooter who can score consistently at all three levels and would definitely be an asset for any college basketball program.
