On January 15th at Deland High School, the 1st Annual Ginny Sanchez JV Showcase took place. Eight area junior varsity teams came to Deland to participate in the event. Teams for the event where: Deltona, Deland, Seminole, Winter Springs, Father Lopez, Spruce Creek, Bishop Moore and one AAU team BlueStar Florida. Here are a few of the up-and-coming players from the event.
Rakaysha Hill 2024 5’4” SG Deland
Hill, a lanky guard that has a nose for the ball. Super aggressive on defense that gets after it, very good shot blocker. She was able to finish at the rim with various finishing moves. With some more development on the offensive side of the ball, Hill will be a force to reckon with in the coming years.
Ashley Brach Ashley Brach 5'8" | CG Lake Howell | 2024 State FL 2024 5’7” SG Seminole
Brach, a guard that has a smooth jump shot. Controls the Noles’ with her dribbling skills and her ability to get her teammates the ball. Brach has the potential to be the starting PG for Seminole in the next few years, with some added skill development.
Andreya Bridger 2025 5’6” SG Father Lopez
Bridger, an aggressive player on the defensive end of the floor. She was consistently getting to the basket finishing her lay ups in transition. She also, was another option on the break for the Green Wave in transition.
Nayla Jimenez 2024 5’1” PG Father Lopez
Jimenez is a tough guard that is the floor general for the Hornets. For a player that is 5’1” she can get to the basket and finish at a consistent clip. Jimenez is another one of the Hornets tough, gritty defenders that gets in your face to put pressure on the opponent.
Mollie McGrath 2024 5’8” PF Father Lopez
She is a very aggressive player that made the right play. A solid passer that got her teammates involved in the game. McGrath can get to the basket and finish. She has ice in her veins, as she knocked down clutch free throws down the stretch.
Ginny Sanchez is a skill trainer and event director in Volusia and Seminole Counties Florida. She will be hosting future events, Prep Girls Hoops Florida plan to cover those events.
