Because of that, I’ve been waiting for a solid sample size of games to talk about some uncommitted prospects in Wisconsin’s largest city. Although there is no chance I can highlight every player I want to, this topic will get revisited shortly. By no means is this list in any particular order.
Norriah Bloomfield-6’0 F-’24-Milwaukee School of Languages: Bloomfield has done an incredible job scoring with consistency thus far. In six games, Bloomfield has scored over 13 points in each of those six games. The sophomore has also become one of the best rebounders in Milwaukee quickly. Bloomfield is currently averaging 12.8 rebounds per game which is the best in the City Conference. Without much more information on her, she is still mysterious to me. However, if I get the chance to see her play, Bloomfield is one of the players that intrigues me the most. With the instant production, Bloomfield has shown she’s capable. I’m very excited to see how she develops.
Imani Warren-6’0 G/F-’23-Milwaukee Rufus King: I was able to find some video of Warren playing, and she’s unique. Warren is a six-foot wing player with long limbs, and it’s obvious when watching her play. Warren gets separation by using her long strides. It doesn’t look like she has much speed, but she always separated from her nearest defender in transition. That also tracks with her attacking the basket from the perimeter. A way to describe what she looks like moving is that she walks past defenders. The only point I want to add is that those defending Warren try desperately to keep up with her they just can’t.
Alexis Young-6’0 F-’22-Milwaukee Rufus King: Young hasn’t been a big-time scorer for King, but she’s played an important role this season. Even though Young has only scored slightly over five points per game, she has found herself the third-best player in the City-Gold Conference in terms of assists. Even for a forward, that passing will be a weapon the rest of the season. The fact that a forward has a line of five points, seven rebounds, and three assists is a bit odd, but I love the niche role she has.
Sidney Scruggs Sidney Scruggs 5'6" | PG Milwaukee Riverside | 2022 State WI -5’5 G-’22- Milwaukee Riverside: For clarity, Scruggs is the only player on this list that I know I’ve seen. If there’s one thing you need to know about Scruggs, it’s that she loves a stepback jumper. That stepback jumper is likely what Scruggs would go to at the end of the clock. The five-foot-five guard also gets into the paint and rebounds extraordinarily well for her size, with almost eight per game. Scruggs has scored 14 points per game this season, and there is a chance her ability to make shots could surprise a team or two in the postseason.
