With most of the prime college positions already taken for the Class of 2022, recruiters are now filling out their dance cards and anyone looking for a true post player needs to pick up the phone and call Maria Counts Maria Counts 5'11" | PF Providence | 2022 State MN . The 5’11 power forward from Providence Academy will be on hand Saturday at the 12-team Breakdown Sports Community Clash. She leads our preview today of the best unsigned seniors to see in St. Michael-Albertville.
Maria Counts Maria Counts 5'11" | PF Providence | 2022 State MN – power forward, Providence Academy
It’s actually quite remarkable that Maria is still on the table. The McDonald’s All-America Team nominee is a proven leader on a state-championship contender, a player with good footwork, nice touch around the basket and the willingness to do battle in the paint with all comers. Over the past few seasons Maria has improved every aspect of her game, from body control to shooting range to ball-handling and more. The numbers speak for themselves.
On a loaded team led by 8th grade sensation Maddyn Greenway Maddyn Greenway 5'8" | PG Providence Academy | 2026 State MN – one of the top 2026s in all of America – Maria more than holds her own in all statistical categories. She leads the 13-4 Lions in assists (4.4 per game) and blocks (1.4), is second in rebounds (6.8) and steals (2.9) and third in points (12.2). She is also a high-character kid who will be an asset to whatever program lands the high-caliber senior. Scholarship-level coaches should be in the gym Saturday to see for themselves.
Here are 10 more unsigned seniors to see at St. Michael-Albertville on Saturday.
Jessica Heir Jessica Heir 6'6" | PF Chaska | 2022 State MN – The 6’6 post from Chaska has long been one of Minnesota’s most-intriguing prospects. With that kind of size and length she will get every opportunity to play at the next level if she wants. Despite toiling behind the many big names on the Hawks, the Top 100 senior has the tools to succeed in college.
Abby Titus Abby Titus 5'10" | SF Lakeville North | 2022 State MN – The versatile performer from Lakeville North has always seemed to operate in the shadows behind a long list of star attractions with the Panthers over the years, but the Top 125 senior brings an awful lot to the table that should be appreciated. She’s got good size, good skills and the kind of reliability that’s hard to find.
Michaela Juaire Michaela Juaire 5'8" | CG Lakeville North | 2022 State MN – The Top 125 senior is playing a huge role now at Lakeville North and has proven night after night that she has the tools to be successful in college basketball. She’s skilled, she’s smart and she’s strong. Michaela will have plenty of post-high school options on and off the basketball court.
Lexi Imdieke Lexi Imdieke 5'8" | SG Blaine | 2022 State MN – The Top 150 guard from Andover is the steadying influence on a talented but young Huskies team. Lexi transferred from Blaine for her senior season and she has been making the most of the move. She’s averaging 7.6 points per game in her final season of high school ball.
Jersey Castillo Jersey Castillo 5'8" | CG Andover | 2022 State MN – The crafty guard has long been one of Minnesota’s more dynamic players. Jersey is very athletic and not at all afraid to attempt the big play at the big moment. The Top 150 senior can also get hot from time to time as a recent 15-point performance against Robbinsdale Armstrong will attest.
Macie Guida Macie Guida 6'0" | SG Buffalo | 2022 State MN – Will she or won’t she? Play college basketball, that is. That’s still the question when it comes to the Buffalo senior’s future plans. The door will be open if Macie opts to walk through. She is a talented multi-sport athlete with length and athleticism who can be a difference-maker at the next level.
Brooke Gunderson Brooke Gunderson 5'8" | CG Buffalo | 2022 State MN – Macie’s Buffalo teammate is one of the state’s grittiest performers, a veritable workhorse who brings maximum effort night in and night out. She is having an excellent senior season, averaging 14 points per game and playing a key starting role for the Bison. Brooke’s best basketball will come at the next level.
Lauren Hoselton – The home team on Saturday is loaded with next-level talent but Lauren is a college prospect who should not be overlooked. The St. Michael-Albertville power forward is big and strong and more than willing to bang with the best. Hoselton’s skills have come a long way and the late bloomer has a high upside.
Averi Dunbar Averi Dunbar 5'6" | PG Spring Lake Park | 2022 State MN – The diminutive point guard from Spring Lake Park is one of the state’s most intelligent floor generals. She has a great sense of timing and pacing and what she lacks in size Averi makes up for in smarts and skill. Dunbar has had a resurgence this winter and is a point guard who deserves serious consideration.
Nora Arndt – Even on a squad like Minnetonka that is loaded with high-profile prospects bound for Division 1 basketball, there is an important role for key bench players like Nora. The 6’0 post has emerged this season as a reliable forward who can effectively defend elite opponents of all dimensions.
