Desoto was missing Michayla Gatewood Michayla Gatewood 5'8" | PG DeSoto | 2022 State TX yet let me give a special S/O to Nissa Muhammad-5’9 PG who definitely gave them solid minutes at the 1, the sophomore definitely left a lasting impression not only by playing with poise but understanding how and when to distribute with the heat that was being thrown at her on the defensive end but let me break down what I saw
2022
Ayanna Thompson Ayanna Thompson 5'10" | PF DeSoto | 2022 State TX (Desoto)
Thompson started the half off with a couple of big baskets, this seemed to help ignite Desoto who went into the quarter down 9 yet that was the spark that got everything going. She also scored in the flow late, not to leave out applied pressure “on the ball” as well as rebounded
Jamia Harris Jamia Harris 5'7" | SG DeSoto | 2022 State TX (Desoto)
Harris was solid at the 1, hit some big shots as well as made some great decisions down the stretch to help secure the victory. Not only did she do a good job on the offensive end, but she’s also long and athletic, remember that will always be the base, and her defense, on the ball or hand in the shooters face made a difference
Jiya Perry Jiya Perry 5'11" | SF DeSoto | 2022 State TX (Desoto)
Perry dropped a double-double, no surprise because of her athleticism and versatility yet her poise down the stretch on both ends including doing what I love to see, playing the passing lane, and coming away with a steal, helped secure the victory. She also dropped a jumper that helped late as the momentum kept changing
2023
Tristen Taylor Tristen Taylor 5'4" | PG Duncanville | 2023 State TX (Duncanville)
Taylor is so smooth and this team is going to be a threat when the playoff starts because she is seasoned and ready for whatever but what I’ve always admired about her game is she lives for the pressure and makes things happen with her ability to not just score but control the tempo and get others involved
Victoria Flores-5’7 SG (Duncanville)
Flores scored 18, based on the play by play, who also said she went completely off in the first half, and based on what I know about her game and his knowledgeable announcing, I definitely believe that yet peep this, she went off multiple ways when I watched and yeah, I know she can drop the mid to long-range and score off the dribble yet her defense was impressive
2024
Tajanae Gooden-5’10 SG (Duncanville)
Gooden is one of those players that can simply go off in the blink of an eye, her range is definitely of the NBA line and she hit a deep one late in the game as Desoto was coming back yet she also did a good job on defense
2025
Kaylinn Kemp Kaylinn Kemp 5'9" | CG Duncanville | 2025 State TX (Duncanville)
Kemp just keeps surprising me and her explosive first step is going to make her fall into that “nightmare to defend” category because one play, she turned on the turbo right before the basket and I just smh
