Those teams included St. John Vianney, Saddle River Day and Paul VI, among others. Here’s a game-by-game recap of Sunday’s action in Holmdel.
Morris Catholic 77, Holmdel 53
Morris Catholic (14-1) took down the showcase host in Holmdel (12-7) on their floor, storming out to a 20-13 lead after the first quarter and a 10-point lead at the half. Four players scored in double-figures for the Crusaders, including a 34-point, 13-rebound performance from freshman star Mia Pauldo Mia Pauldo 5'7" | CG Morris Catholic | 2025 State NJ . She also knocked down four three-pointers in the win. The Pauldo sisters, who have been balling out as freshmen, took over this game from the jump. Mia’s sister, Mya, scored 14 points along with six rebounds and seven assists. Daniella Matus and Natalie Stoupakis combined for 23 points and four made three-pointers in the win also. For Holmdel, three players scored in double-figures, with Alexandra Loucopoulos leading the way, scoring 17 points and hauling in seven rebounds while knocking down two three-pointers on her own.
Rumson Fair-Haven 80, St. Thomas Aquinas 58
Rumson Fair-Haven struggled out of the gate, but came up big against a 14-2 St. Thomas Aquinas squad that had scored 60 or less points in just three previous games coming in. Grace Colucci and Julia Corsentino Julia Corsentino 5'9" | SG Rumson-Fair Haven | 2023 State NJ put RFH on their back, scoring 20 points each and combining for seven made three-pointers and 11 rebounds in a 22-point victory. RFH (11-8) benefitted from the foul line, where they made 21 free throws on the day compared to seven the other way. Four players scored in double-figures for RFH and two did for St. Thomas Aquinas. Kayla Perez had a fantastic day with 18 points and five assists while Amarilis Shubick sunk 3 three-pointers on her way to a 16-point day, both in a losing effort.
Manasquan 55, Paul VI 50
In a battle of two heavyweights, Manasquan pulled ahead for good in the third, out-scoring Paul VI 19-10 as they won a close 5-point contest. Balanced scoring was the name of the game for Manasquan (18-3) had three players score in double-figures and seven get on the scoring sheet on the day. Hope Masonius Hope Masonius 5'9" | PG Manasquan | 2024 State NJ continued a fantastic season for her with a 15-point, 10-rebound performance, leading the team in scoring and rebounding on the day. Georgia Heine Georgia Heine 5'10" | SG Manasquan | 2022 State NJ came up big on the defensive end with three blocks along with 12 points and six rebounds. Mary Elizabath Donnelly knocked down a pair of three-pointers as she had 13 points on the day with three assists and two steals. Hannah Hidalgo Hannah Hidalgo 5'7" | PG Paul VI | 2023 State NJ had another stellar game for Paul VI (15-3) , scoring 21 points along with three made three-pointers. Sara McShea held down the fort on the interior, with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Rutgers Prep 47, Red Bank Catholic 43
Talk about a back-and-forth game, this one had it all, with Rutgers Prep coming out victorious in the end. The Caseys led 26-25 at halftime, but a 20-11 third quarter put the Argonauts up eight headed to the fourth. Despite holding Rutgers Prep to just two points in the quarter, RBC’s (18-3) comeback came up just short. Ally Carman Ally Carman 6'5" | C Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ and Christina Liggio Christina Liggio 5'8" | PG Red Bank Catholic | 2025 State NJ both nearly had double-doubles, with Carman putting up 11 points and nine rebounds and Liggio scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds. However, Rutgers Prep’s (15-1) Mikayla Blakes Mikayla Blakes 5'8" | SG Rutgers Prep | 2024 State NJ was the story of the game, scoring 25 points along with four three-pointers, five rebounds and three assists. Katie Ledden Katie Ledden 6'0" | SG Rutgers Prep | 2023 State NJ made her presence felt on the interior as well for the Argos, with five blocks and six rebounds in the win.
St. John Vianney 76, Saddle River Day 51
The main draw of the day was a matchup between the top two teams in the state, St. John Vianney and Saddle River Day. The highly anticipated game quickly turned into a blowout as SJV flexed its muscles as the top team in the state, improving to 19-0 with a 25-point victory. Madison St. Rose Madison St. Rose 5'10" | PG St. John Vianney | 2022 State #65 Nation NJ once again had a standout performance, leading all scorers with 28 points. Zoe Brooks Zoe Brooks 5'8" | CG St. John Vianney | 2023 State NJ nearly had herself a triple-double, with 14 points, seven rebounds and nine assists for SJV, leading the Lady Lancers in rebounds and assists on the day. Four players ended up scoring in double-figures for SJV in the victory. For SRD, Paulina Paris Paulina Paris 5'9" | PG Saddle River Day | 2022 State NJ led with 19 points, three rebounds and two steals. Cierra Pearson also had a stellar day in a losing effort, scoring 14 points, four rebounds, two steals and knocking down 3 three-pointers.
