Tampa Bay Tech had beat Armwood by 6, 6, and 2 points just as recently as six days ago. But tonight, in the 6A Regional Quarterfinals, it was a different story. Armwood led the entire game and held off a few different comeback efforts by the Titans, and the Hawks pulled it out with a 47-39 win. Here were some of the best players of the night:
Armwood Lady Hawks (14-8)
Keyara Bromley Keyara Bromley 5'9" | SG Armwood | 2023 State FL | 2023
Key was the best player on the floor and everyone knew it. She finished the game as the leading scorer by putting up 16 points from all three levels. The Junior has an aresenal of crafty moves that allow her to score it all over. Her step back, euro, and step through are really tough to defend. They will need a huge game from her to advance another round.
Madisen Sylvester | 2023
Madisen was a big key to this game in the frontcourt. She helped control the boards and the paint with a big size advantage over TBT. The Junior finished with 8 points on one of her best performances of the season.
Na’Chauncia Welch | 2024
Na’Chauncia was the biggest surprise for me as I hadn’t seen her play in person yet. She brought the ball up the floor as the trusted PG that everyone looked to outlet the ball to after a rebound. Her ability to see the floor allowed her to drop some pretty dimes and hit her floater when given space. I really enjoyed watching her get after it on defense with some full court pressure on the ball.
Amaya Richardson | 2025
Amaya was another very welcome surprise to see. She helped Madisen with the size advantage they had on Tech. The Freshman was very athletic, strong, and finished at the rim. She’ll be a player to watch as she develops.
Tampa Bay Tech (19-5)
Jade Thompson Jade Thompson 5'6" | CG Seffner | 2024 State FL | 2024
Jade was easily the second best player on the floor behind Key. She did a great job of pushing the ball up the floor and driving to the hoop to finish with 14 points. It was surprising to see her line up for the jump ball, but she does have an explosive vert and good elevation in her game. She has good length, speed, and can score it from anywhere.
Kieran Allen Kieran Allen 5'7" | SG Tampa Bay Tech | 2022 State FL | 2022
TBT has two seniors who didn’t have their best showings tonight, but they’ve have good careers. Kieran is one of those who is a nice shooter that ended the night with 11 points. Her and Laila Duffey wish they could get some redemption on their last game at Tech, I’m sure.
