The end of the week brings a brand new player-of-the-week poll here at PGH Wisconsin. Polls close Wednesday at 2 p.m. CST.
Beautiful Waheed Beautiful Waheed 5'9" | CG Milwaukee Academy of Science | 2023 State WI -5’6 G-’23-Milwaukee Academy of Science
Waheed led the Lady Novas in their 72-56 over Milwaukee Academy of Languages by scoring a team-high 22 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Waheed also played an excellent game against Riverside on Wednesday. In that game against Riverside, Waheed recorded 31 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five steals. I was lucky enough to see the junior play against Pius early this season. The Lady Nova plays with a level of passion that you rarely see, she plays with her emotion, and it’s contagious Waheed got my competitive juices going in the stands.
Gracie Grzesk Gracie Grzesk 6'0" | SF Green Bay Notre Dame | 2024 State WI -5’11 G/F-’24-Notre Dame
The Lady Triton started her week with a statement game. In a win over then-undefeated No. 1 Divison 3 Waupun, Grzesk led her team with 18 points in a game where they were playing catch-up. The sophomore can do anything you can think of offensively. She’s capable of playing on the perimeter but tall and long enough to take advantage of smaller defenders. Playing for coach Sara Rohde, I fully expect Grzesk to continue to get better until the day she graduates.
KK Arnold KK Arnold 5'10" | PG Germantown | 2023 State #8 Nation WI -5’10 G-’23-Germantown (Uconn commit)
One of Wisconsin’s best talents in any sport this millennium broke Germantown’s all-time scoring record as a junior. Arnold broke the record Friday night in a dominant win over Wauwatosa East. The Uconn commit is a player you have to see to believe, she’s scored over 1600 high school points with a few regular-season games, postseason games, and senior season left. This state is lucky to have her, and I know she’ll be a great representative of girls basketball in Wisconsin after she graduates.
Mallory Lindsey Mallory Lindsey 5'5" | SG Mineral Point | 2022 State WI -5’4 G-’22-Mineral Point (UW-Oshkosh commit)
One of five talented UW-Oshkosh commits, Lindsey had an outstanding week for Mineral Point. The senior scored 23.3 points per game this week, along with making 51% of her 33 3-point attempts this week. Lindsey only recorded two turnovers in three games while carrying a heavy scoring workload. Weeks like this show why Oshkosh wanted her and why the Pointers are a threat in Division 4.
Emma Jossie Emma Jossie 5'8" | PF Stevens Point (SPASH) | 2023 State WI -5’9 F-’23-Stevens Point
Jossie and Zoe Fink Zoe Fink 5'9" | SG Stevens Point (SPASH)s | 2022 State WI decided they wanted to break records. Fink made eight three-pointers in the win, and Jossie set a new career-high 39 points, in a win, against D.C Everest. Jossie’s previous career-high was 30. Jossie is a unique player because she plays bigger than her 5’9 listed height would suggest, and she has a knack for scoring the ball. I’m keeping an eye on which teams end up offering her because she is a talented kid with unique measurables for a next-level forward, but she’s good enough to be one.
