POLL: Player of the Week Feb. 7 – Feb. 12
In this article:
As the regular season nears an end, it’s time for another player of the week poll.
Sophia Langille Sophia Langille 5'8" | CG Fond Du Lac | 2023 WI -5’6 G-’23-Fond du Lac
In a bid to steal a road win in Kaukauna, Langille scored 26 points against one of the most talented teams in the state. The junior shot 10 for 15 from the field and made four of her five three-point attempts. Not only did she score the ball efficiently, the guard distributed as well. Langille dished out six assists and pulled down three rebounds. If the day comes this postseason where Brooklynn Butler Brooklynn Butler 5'11" | CG Fond Du Lac | 2024 State WI and Langille play well, they could upset a team or two.
Ashlyn Yow Ashlyn Yow 5'6" | PG Waukesha West | 2022 State WI -5’6 PG-’22-Waukesha West-Metropolitan State University of Denver commit
The senior scored a career-high 28 points against Catholic Memorial on Friday. Yow has always been a steady source of offense because of her distribution, but she showed how talented a scorer she is against the Crusaders. When you watch Yow operate, she oozes confidence. Even when I watched her play against Hortonville, the Wolverine never seemed to lose her poise, and that’s why she’ll be a good point guard at the next level.
Grace Schisel Grace Schisel 5'8" | SG New Holstein | 2023 State WI -5’7 G-’23-New Holstein
The New Holstein guard has become one of the best shooters this state has to offer, and she keeps getting better. This week, Schisel made 10 3’s in two games and averages 25 points per game, so far, this season. I’ve become more of a fan of hers the more I’ve seen her play. I have a firm belief that she’s going to make every shot she takes. The ability to wreck a defense’s plan by making tough three after tough 3 is unique. When she attacks off the dribble, she is still extremely dangerous. Schisel took ten free throws in a win on Monday against Kiel and made all 10 in a three-point win.
Allie Ziebell Allie Ziebell 5'11" | SG Neenah | 2024 State WI -6’0 G/F-’24-Neenah
On Tuesday night, Ziebell became the first sophomore in Wisconsin to surpass the 1,000 point mark. The Rocket didn’t stop there on Tuesday night. She finished with 41 points in a win over Oshkosh West. Everything I’ve heard from people who know Ziebell begins with how hard she works to get better. That tracks because she’s made herself into one of the best sophomores in America. Ziebell is currently leading the state in scoring with 30 points per game. I highly suggest going to a Neenah game if you can to see how good she is. When you’re there, you will also appreciate how good Ava Kok and Paige Werner Paige Werner 6'0" | PF Neenah | 2022 State WI are as well.
Alayna West-5’8 G-’24-Madison La Follette
West began her week by helping end Verona’s winning streak, scoring 29 and pulling down 19 rebounds. She finished her week by scoring 22 against a talented Janesville Craig team. The senior Lancers have made West a slight afterthought this season. However, the fight that West brings is something I’ve appreciated when I’ve gotten to watch the Lancers play. Watch out for La Follette in the postseason.
