Regional Finals Set
In this article:
Okay I probably should have used a different graphic but here we are and with 2 events to cover today, as well as trying to LIVESTREAM some action from the various games, I’m dropping a quick hitter on what happened last night and again, I don’t do blowouts
6A Region 1
Braswell was my pick to represent the region in my breakdown yesterday, they defeated LD “Ring My Bell” as Bell definitely was ringing in a close game while South Grand Prairie won with ease against South Lake Carroll, neither game was on LIVESTREAM, well the one I paid for
6A Region 2
DeSoto defeated Tomball Memorial by what 21 Savage would say, A LOT, that was definitely expected by me, I definitely didn’t expect Conroe to lose to Duncanville by only 10 yet my prediction of them facing each other is on the money
6A Region 3
Who said Summer Creek had an abundance of guards that can apply pressure, baseline to baseline, and trap, I’m not a novice at this yet they also have “Guess Who’s Entering The Top 100 With A Bang” Kaitlyn Duhon who is one of the most athletic girls in the state, that can play basketball as they won going away against Dulles
Pearland kept going hard, they had to, I’ll tell you why later but RyLee Grays RyLee Grays 6'3" | PF The Village School | 2023 State #17 Nation TX battling for the boards on both ends gave them a scoring boost in the second half while Aryelle Stevens Aryelle Stevens 6'0" | PF Pearland | 2022 State TX put up numbers throughout the game, the UNSIGNED senior also came up huge in the clutch and her midrange jumper just about did but let me also add scoring from Paige Bonner and Nyah Hardy Nyah Hardy 5'7" | CG Pearland | 2024 State TX at various times helped play a part in their victory as well.
I said I’ll tell you why this is later and had I done the updated 2023 Rankings next week, Justice Carlton Justice Carlton 6'1" | PF Seven Lakes | 2024 State TX would be listed as #1, keep in my I don’t listen to self-promoters who try and impress others I go by what I see and stand by “it’s not what you dol, it’s who you do it against” and she has been virtually unstoppable against TOP competition, I’ll never forget her dad saying “it’s about time you said something about my baby” in the 6th grade, and he was right yet her then club coach had never turned in a roster, so my saying Summer Creek will win this region hasn’t changed
Region 4
Harlan vs Clark was a lot closer than I anticipated, the inside presence of Clark’s Twin Tower sister combination Aaliyah Roberson Aaliyah Roberson 6'2" | PF Clark | 2022 State TX and Arianna Roberson Arianna Roberson 6'4" | C SA Clark | 2024 State TX was definitely a factor in their win yet so was Haley Adams and Ramsey Robledo Ramsey Robledo 5'8" | SG Clark | 2023 State TX yet Harlan definitely gave it their all as I knew nothing about any of their players other than Layla Conley Layla Conley 5'7" | SG Harlan | 2023 State TX and since that 404 has been fixed and I can see their roster now, the 411 has me saying Kastyn Young Kastyn Young 5'11" | SG Harlan | 2023 State TX definitely attacks the basket strongly while Vivian Villa did a nice job around the basket yet Conley who can drop the 3 in droves, also showed me the floater as well as attacking off the dribble as I did my wraparound
5A Region 3
The only game I watched a lot of was the College Station vs Manvel game, I figured Hendrickson had enough to offset Beaumont United’s Princess Anderson Princess Anderson 5'7" | PG Beaumont United | 2022 State TX who can score faster than I can type and they did as they advanced to the Region 3 finals. Why did I watch that game, well my daughter played at Texas A&M before the WNBA and it’s my initials backward yet as backward as I’ve seen this go as a whole.
This was an intense game as I was happy to see PUFF, Aliyah Collins, come back from an ACL injury with a vengeance, been watching her since she was in elementary school so we go way back yet her off the dribble floaters weren’t the only thing that kept me interested as Jayden Davenport was ana absolute BEAST on the BOARDS while Jaeden McMillin Jaeden McMillin 6'0" | SF College Station | 2023 State TX scored from a variety of spots. Manvel’s Aiyana Sam attacked the basket relentlessly to score while Kaia Henry Kaia Henry 5'7" | CG Manvel | 2023 State TX dropped at least 4 from BTA off the bench yet Jordyn Marshall Jordyn Marshall 5'6" | CG Manvel | 2022 State TX has mastered the floater, I’m sure someone will attempt to take credit for that as she and long ball sensation, UNSIGNED Mercedes Mancha Mercedes Mancha 5'7" | CG Alvin | 2022 State TX closed out their high school careers and are ready for the next chapter, watch this
4A Region 3
I expected Hardin Jefferson to win, they’re on the verge of heading to state for the 3rd time in 4 years, just like Desoto yet that pass from Kendall Sneed Kendall Sneed 5'7" | CG Hardin Jefferson | 2024 State TX to Ashlon Jackson Ashlon Jackson 5'10" | SG Hardin Jefferson | 2022 State #22 Nation TX in transition just had me beaming because I watched both at very young ages, #D1Locks back then and yes, I’m that good as Jackson is heading to Duke yet they, along with Molly Beavers Molly Beavers 6'0" | SF Hardin Jefferson | 2023 State TX and a solid supporting cast are one step away from returning, well one game
The Next Chapter is LaVega, tons of athletic guards that can score and press plus a solid interior has me thinking about next season already. Kiyleah Parr may not be related to Jack yet she will be a light night sensation at the next level, trust me, she is all over the place, attacking the rim, hitting pull-up jumpers, and diving for loose balls yet Mar’Cyah Wilis and Alaysia Gude Alaysia Gude 5'9" | CG LaVega | 2025 State TX form a solid nucleus and with the progression, I’m seeing from the others, including 6’1 Angela Carroll, a new tune will be heard, get it, CARROLL, just Google that and Parr
