After years of taking losses to Oran, Scott City broke through to take a 64-57 victory to break an 18-game losing streak against the Eagles. Here are the Top Five Stars from Wednesday night’s Scott City-Oran contest.
No. 1 Star: Kacie Daigger Kacie Daigger 5'6" | SG Scott City | 2022 State MO (Scott City)
The 5’6″ 2022 guard scored a game-high 41 points to lead Scott City to its huge victory. She has deep shooting range from 3-point territory, but she also can get to the basket whenever she wants to either score or draw fouls. She also wants the ball when it’s money time. She hit a tough runner in the lane to break a 57-57 tie in the closing seconds, then sealed the win from the free throw line. It was one of the most impressive individual performances that I’ve watched this season.
No. 2 Star: Haley Webb Haley Webb 5'11" | SF Oran | 2023 State MO (Oran)
The 5’11” 2023 wing scored a team-high 17 points. She displayed shooting range that went well beyond the 3-point line. She could also get into the lane with her long strides that covered a lot of ground. She used her length to get into the passing lanes and convert a few steals into layups.
No 3: Lilyan Landis (Scott City):
A 6’0 2025 forward who was impressive with 10 points and plenty of activity at both ends of the court. She has a nice shooting touch inside and she was also a tenacious rebounder. She was strong enough to hold the ball when defenders starting swiping at it. She also scored a bucket on a nice rim-run. She blocked two shots in the game with an impressive second jump to avoid the foul.
No. 4 Star: Grace Davis (Oran):
A 5’9″ 2022 guard who scored 12 points on the evening. She was very good at attacking the basket and scoring in the lane. She could weave in and out of traffic on the dribble and she did a nice job of finding the open spots in Scott City’s zone defense to shoot the short jumper.
No. 5 Star: Traci Hency Traci Hency 6'0" | C Oran | 2022 State MO (Oran)
The 6’0″ 2022 forward scored 11 points and played a solid game in the low post. She could sit down and establish good position inside with a seal and score on a drop step. She also scored on a couple of buckets in the lane with a nice touch. She was aggressive on the boards and she blocked and altered shots in the lane.
