2022
Abby Ordonez-5’9 CG (Central Texas Saints)
Ordonez caught my eye initially with her being active on the court, I’m talking about both ends, and seeing her defend, understanding how to switch and force players into the trap was enough, and then she played the passing lane. She sees the floor and handles the ball and although I missed day 2, she dropped 6/9 from BTA and led all scorers with 20 in the BIG game for first
Trinity McGarity-5’7 W/G (Central Texas Saints)
McGarity went after everything on the floor, in the stands, and off the rim which was impressive because she rebounded over taller players, much of that was due to positioning yet a lot of it simply was a desire yet she also showed she could create her shot under pressure and knock it down from outside as well as score off the dribble, she dropped 14 in the game that determined 1st place
2023
Kayla McGarity-6’0 PF (Central Texas Saints)
McGarity is “long and athletic, remember that’s the base yet watching her effortlessly snag the ball off the rim was nice, so was her playing the passing lane yet she has a nice pull-up jumper and can score off the dribble and she also applied heat on defense, inside and outside the paint and her double-double in the big game played a huge part in their victory
Ivey McCray-5’5 CG (Salt and Light)
McCray showed me a lot in the full game I caught her playing so the “stop and pop” is nice yet so is her ability to create her shot and the “stop and pop” in transition was also nice and effective. She showed the mid to long-range jumper, she showed a very nice first step and she also showed she could finish strongly after contact
Imani McCray-5’5 CG (Salt and Light)
McCray had me thinking about that “shake and bake” commercial when the little girl comes on at the end and said “and I helped” yet she commands a double team in certain situations and hopefully you got that but she elevates off the ground for her jumper, the release is quick and she gets it off whenever she wants but her body control on her finishes was also nice
2024
Mikaela Curtis-5’7 CG (Salt and Light)
Curtis captured my attention in the 5th or 6th grade, I just know my hair was still all black but nevertheless, I’m definitely glad I caught up with her as she’s about to explode on the PGH Circuit this club season. She’s “long and athletic” again that’s the base, can “man-up” baseline to baseline, and watching her curl off screens for the jumper was just as impressive as seeing her just elevate and drop it with a hand in her face. She rebounds and goes coast to coast to either dish or finish
