Elena Bertrand Elena Bertrand 5'5" | PG Virginia Academy | 2023 State VA -2023-Highland School
Set a school single game scoring record with 44pts and followed that up with 29pt and 26pt effort later that week. She led her team to a 2-1 record this week. Elena has been putting up big numbers all season, don’t let her size fool you. This girl can play, she can score at all three levels. While carrying the offensive load for her squad, she continues to play strong defense and looks to get her teammates involved in the game.
Hailey Holcombe-2024-Midlothian
Hailey led her team to 2 wins this week, torching the nets with a 29 point effort and followed that up with 18. In her win against Godwin, she made 9 3’s and I don’t think any of them ever hit the rim. One of the best shooting efforts I have seen this year; she made 3s in transition, off screens and used one dribble to create space. Young lady was efficient and can flat out shoot the ball. She averaged over 19pts across three games.
Amani Melendez Amani Melendez 5'8" | SG Woodbridge HS | 2022 State VA -2022-Woodbridge
Tough young lady, led her team to a win vs. Colgan with 36pts and 8 made 3’s. Followed that performance with a 24pt outing less than 24hrs later shooting 14/17 from foul line. Amani has good size and a strong body at the guard position. She creates for herself and is a nightmare to guard one on one. She utilizes nice change of direction, makes good reads off screens and can score anywhere on the court.
Samantha Smith-2023-St. Gertrude
If you are looking for a point guard, this is your kid! She has transformed her body; quicker, faster and stronger. Pushes the ball in transition, eyes are always up looking for teammates. She controls flow of game, good passer who sets teammates up for success and handles pressure. On the defensive end she is a strong on ball defender and is not afraid to give up her body for loose balls. She is a reliable 3pt shooter and can finish in transition.
Dani Marmo-2024-Midlothian
Dani has worked her way back from injury and is having a stellar sophomore campaign. A combo guard, 5’8 who can knock down the open 3. She was hot against Godwin, but most impressive was her ability to recognize the career night her teammate was having and gave up open looks to get the ball to the hot hand. Dani did a great job handling pressure, showed good court vision and her length defensively caused problems. She finished the night with 16pts, 6 assists, 6 rebounds.
Diamond Wiggins Diamond Wiggins 5'10" | SF Norview | 2023 State VA -2023-Norview
Diamond led her team with 24pts in a win against defending Class 4 state champs, Louisa. Diamond was tough all night, she showcased an array of nice moves to get to the basket and can shoot with range. She has great size at 5’10 and a college ready frame. She is physical, hustles and her leadership down the stretch was invaluable.
Cali Levine-2022-Staunton River
Led her team to a big win against Lord Botetourt, scoring 19pts including five 3’s. Cali is always gonna give heart and hustle, her enthusiasm for the game is unmatched. She shined bright on a big stage, her 3pt shot is deep and form is consistent. She showcased her court vision and passing ability and looks to push the ball in transition. A student of the game and strong leader, she will be a steal at the next level.
Erin Edmonds Erin Edmonds 5'9" | CG Hopewell | 2025 State VA -2025-Hopewell
Erin has been putting up big numbers all season as a freshman. She has great size at 5’9, can score anywhere on the court. She is a double/double threat nightly with her ability to rebound on both ends of the court. She started the week with 20pts/11 rebounds and finished with a career night 44pt double/double vs. Dinwiddie. This is only the beginning for this young athlete!
