As teams start to advance, games have become feisty possession battles. The young ladies who are still playing have displayed the mental fortitude as they are locked in and focused on bigger goals for themselves and their teams.
This weekend, West Tennessee was jumping with young ladies dazzling on the hardwood. Hard fought battles were taking place as teams battled it out to advance to the next round. Games were tight, displaying back and forth action where girls knocked down clutch shots and finished at the rim. Defense was at a premium this weekend. As teams look to punch their cards for the next round, here were some girls who stood out over the weekend.
Naveah Scott(5’7/ Jr./ CG/ Bartlett)– Talented guard dropped 19pts in their victory this past weekend. Multi-level scorer who is a quiet assassin. Tough kid who can put the ball on the floor to get to her shot or knock it down from beyond the arc. Creates chaos on the defensive end.
Emmie Moore- (5’10/ Jr./ PF/ Fayette Academy)– Inside out player who anticipates well. Has a nice mid-range game and can finish in the paint. Contributes on both ends of the floor. Dropped 27 pts this past weekend.
Mariyah Hart (5’7/ Sr./ G/ Memphis Business Academy)– This Lady Exec dropped 22 pts over the weekend. Solid contributor who scores in double figures on a nightly basis. Overlooked, this kid can get to the rim, make sweet passes, and knock down shots. Grabs boards on the defensive end, leading to transition breaks. All district player who is one of the leading contributors on a talented MBA team.
Takeria Bailey (SG/So./ Mitchell)– Was hot against Manasses on Saturday. TB showcased her skills to help lead her Mitchell team with a game-high 23 points. Tough kid who can score the rock. From shooting 3s to finishing high point shots, she was on fire as her team looks to advance to the next round.
Makayla Summerall Makayla Summerall 5'8" | PG Harding Academy | 2022 State TN (5’8/ Sr./ G/ Harding Academy)– Tough competitor who thrives on creating chaos. Makayla can score the rock as she dropped 18 pts against USJ. From poking the ball away to grabbing boards, she was a high contributor on the defensive end. Offensively, with great court vision and displaying a high basketball IQ, Makayla dialed it from deep. She has a sweet stroke that she unleashed not only from beyond the arc, but also in the mid-range area as well. A great talent who is a fierce competitor.
